Hey all,
Currently I'm running an FX-51 with a socket 940 mobo. I've got a FX 5950 Ultra, and am looking to upgrade my graphics card for under $250. My power supply is 420 Watts and pretty solid, so I'm not too worried about a power problem.

I'm not sure upgrading to PCI-E would be a great idea, since I think my current processor set-up is pretty good and it'd be significantly more expensive to upgrade CPU/mobo/GPU/PSU.

I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I'd like to be able to run some of the most technologically advanced games at good speeds.

I think the 7800gs would be your best bet if you don't want to upgrade to PCI-e.
Lots of people selling used 6800U's and x850xt's too, so keep on the look out for those.

Those cards would offer significant performance improvements over that 5950U.

So basically if I can find a 6800 Ultra or a x850xt I should try to buy it for cost/performance ratio, but 7800 gs is a better card all around?

I know that a 7800gs is THE fastest agp card especially if you overclock it.
It would be faster still with a fx-51. My cpu isn't quite enough and i play most games on high at 1280x1024 and score 3331 in 3d mark 06 which is good.
