AGP Upgrade

Biting the bullet and upgrading from Socket A to AM2 64 X 2 and am looking for a video card that will give me comparable performance of my AGP X850PRO....anyone have a starting point? I kind of like ATi

They don't really make any newer cards that are that slow, until you get down to the $50-75 price point. I can guarantee you that if you're still happy with an X850 Pro, you'll love an X1950 Pro, for ~$100.

edit: BTW, the new 2400XT is about as fast as your X850 Pro (although it's probably slightly slower), if you want to look up some video card comparisons, like this one.

If you're upgrading your whole system, take a look at AT's article today on budget gaming systems here. They have recommendations for both AMD and Intel systems along with the other parts to use.

I personally lean toward the Intel side as they OC very easily to a much higher performance/price ratio than their AMD counterparts (I've had both AMD and Intel systems in the past and generally just go where the performance leads). The Intel option also offers a drop-in upgrade to the 45nm Penryn processors launching within the next couple of months.
