AGP Upgrade Question

I dumped AGP, and went PCI Express. FOund it to be the best bang for my buck. Look into x1600 pro AGP, 6800 xt, 7600gs, and 7800 gs. The 7800 gs agp is around 250 with mail in rebates, and gives about the same performance as a 7600 gt PCI-Express card.

I found some good deals, so I'm leaving AGP behind, and getting an x1800xt.

My only problem with going PCI-E is that since my processor is socket 940, I'd basically have to buy an entirely new set of components. From what I understand, in order to get a processor that's as good for gaming as an fx-51 and is AM2/Conroe/939 + mobo + gpu + ram (probably) there's no way the price/performance ratio makes any sense. My logic at this point is to buy a card in the next couple of days that will prolong this computer's life until 2007, preferably until the spring. Seems like that would be a $200 well spent.
Any suggestions are helpful though.

The first card is an 'all in wonder' with TV tuner and such, the second one is probably faster in games. Not really that fast though for things like FEAR and Oblivion.

Keep in mind that if you did replace the system at this point, you would be getting something with real upgrade potential - AM2 and Conroe are brand new and are gonna be around for a while.
