I mean, the OP's only real problem is a lack of patience. If you are sticking with an AGP card, you can still get a new AGP mobo. If you are going to update to PCI-E, you get a PCI-E mobo. In a couple years, it'll all be PCI-E...

Well the reason I want one is because 1, I'm betting the GeForce 7800 won't be out for a while and I want to go ahead and upgrade my computer. I also want to use the new parts without having to either buy a cheap PCI-E vid card that doesn't work as well as my 9800P or 2, simply wait until it comes out...whenever that may be.

That's the only that sux for me going to a PCI-E mobo from an AGP (obviously) mobo.

Tipstaff, would you happen to know when the Albatron ATOP will be released and the price per chance?

Thanx again!

Can't say for sure. Most likely they will release it just after Computex at the end of this month in Taipei. Albatron will probably preview the card at the show, then release it not long afterwards (maybe within the month of June). Pricing though.. have no clue, but it shouldn't be too expensive or they risk limiting their market (I would assume less than $100.. but my word isn't gospel). Anything more than that and people will decide to buy a true PCIE card instead since it'd only be $100 more for decent card.

I hate to disappoint all the nay-sayers, but there IS in fact an AGP to PCIE bridge. You can check it out HERE. Was just announced 'officially' today.

Whether I'd buy one or not.. that's a whole new thread.

I saw that yesterday too...and I'm very interested in it. :)

I may upgrade to an A64/NF4 system within the next month or two - but where does that leave me and my 6800GT? Hopefully something like this could let me use my current card while I await the G70/R520.... (perhaps with a bit of ghetto-rigging since it's a full size AGP card)

If they do try to sell this for $100, they will have failed before they even started. :p For that money I could just swap out my AGP 6800GT for a PCI-E one, of course. I'm hoping it's in the $20-30 range, personally....

I aint read it 100%, i dont know if it converts both ways ie GPU(AGP8x) to PCI-E mobo and GPU(PCI-E) to AGP8x mobo.

I do know distance is a prob on most non low profile cards, i still dont get how the pci slot bracket wont be sticking out to far on any cards though.

That was just posted in here a few hours ago....:p

Less than $100? This thing is dead in the water unless it's less than $20-30, IMO--and that's assuming it'll work with full-height cards, which I still doubt.

It's $20 to $30, and only supports half hieght cards.

Ok, I would think it would be under $50 but we won't know until it's out. Now to wait for the A64 X2's and the ATOP to come out and then I'm good to go!

This is off topic but after seeing what the PS3 can do, it's gonna make the upgrade that I'm going for (A64 X2 4400+ GeForce 7800 GT or Ultra MSI Neo4 Platinum 1GB PC3200 Corsair RAM)...all of that seem slightly diminished compared to the PS3.

The PS3 will have 3 CPU Cell Processors, 2 GeForce 7800's. Also if you look at the numbers, it's twice as powerful as the Xbox 360. The reason I wanted the Xbox over the PS2 was because it had better hardware. M$ had the chance and the ability to have better hardware than Sony but they blew it big time! Just go here and look at the game trailers for the PS3!! http://www.gametrailers.com/e3_2k5_ps3.php

Here are the specs for the PS3: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/614/614682p1.html

Here are the specs for the Xbox 360: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox360/factsheet.htm

Compare the two and notice especially the overall Floating Point performance. Xbox = 1 Teraflop, PS3 = 2 Teraflops
