agp port only set to 1x???

hey everyone

Ive just been running 3dmark 2k1se on my system to get an idea of what kinda speeds im getting from it. I noticed that it shows my agp is only set to 1x when 2x is available.

this is confusing me as I was reasonably sure the the agp would automatically default to the maximum speed possible, be it the card or mobo. If this is not the case does anyone know how I would go about changing it to 2x? Im running and old skool MSI 6167 mobo (from back in the good old slot a days 😉)

cheers
c.

First of all, check your bios about anything that deals with AGP. You will have to enable it as well you should increase your aperture size to half of what your physical onboard ram is. You should look at your software controlling the vid card. Make sure you enable AGP in this too.

hmm, ive checked the bios and i cant change the speed of it the agp in there, not that i can see anyway. theres also no way of changing the sideband addressing, would this make any difference to the speeds?

the nvidia drivers also dont have any option for changing the agp speeds or sideband addressing...

sandra shows the mobo at 1x but can run at 2x so i think that must be the culprit...
