So I will take it that running my AGP bus at 100 MHz shouldn't really be of much concern to me? 😛

(No worries about the pci bus, it runs at locked 33MHz speed)

Burning in takes too much time... maybe you could rig up a contraption so you could hook a 12 V car battery to it and burn those electrical pathways wide open to get things moving faster through them

FYI
The PCI 2.2 standard includes 66 Mhz as an allowed speed (ATi RADEON 7k series (PCI) run @ 33/66 Mhz)

As for APG: no idea on specs
 
Ran 82.5/41.25 on my bx board for years. I have a Maxtor 4.3GB hd that's in my current system and was run at the 41.25 speed for perhaps 3 years & it's still fine as is an IBM hd that was run for 2 years. My current ATI radeon VIVO AGP video card was run for at least a year at 82.5 (and overclocked itself) & its still running fine in my current system. I wasn't an avid overcloker and used no cooling other than what was on the PSU - never even monitored temps or anything. So it appears the long-term effects, whether from the extra juice or the heat, are minimal...
 
Didn't realize how hot I made the nVidia MCP-T by increasing the AGP so high 😛

I monitored the chip's temperature and saw it hit near 140 F :Q

This is on the Epox 8RDA+
 
I will check it again after restoring the AGP to 66 MHz.. maybe it's just always hot in general.. I'll see 😛

Lowering down the AGP bus to 66MHz brought it around 115-120 F..
I'm gonna go ahead and buy a chipset hs/f since I prefer to overclock the bus anyways 😛

 
actually "back in the day" of p2 and p3 overclocking, many of us ran in the 90-100 mhz agp range mostly cause we didnt have a choice.

its the pci mhz that can get you in trouble.
some harddrives will be very unhappy, etc.

Heh... I remember when I ran a 600E@160fsb rock solid... Got greedy and went 162fsb and poof! my HD totally crashed on me (file corruption, etc.). Only one system back then. Try renaming 400+ mp3 files because they all reverted back to DOS-style names (first 8 characters followed by"~" 😱😀
 
darn...so you're saying that its not safe to run your agp/pci out of spec? the reason i ask is because i have a 8k3a, and i'm not sure whether or not it has a agp/pci lock on it. I ordered some pc3500 memory and i wanted to try running my system at a higher fsb than 166....currently have it at 13x166. If i up the fsb to say 200, will this mess up my other devices in my system?
 
just like any form of overclocking ~ you can go too far.
where "too far" is will depend on quite a few things.

hey THUGSROOK, I know this is very off subject in this thread but my browser is screwing up & i cant pm you at the moment; what is the highest vcore for p4 i can use with a prometeia without frying it (to run at all the time, if stable)? does temp matter over 1.7-1.75v? or will more than that endanger my proc no matter what my temps & how well it is cooled?
 
Har.... the onboard audio on the BE7-R is teh suk :|.
I just sold my Audigy as I plan to upgrade to an Audigy2 here in a few weeks. But when I fired my that computer back up, turned on the onboard audio, and it did not even register in Windows.

n/p, I load up the drivers and it did not even find the card. I step the AGP/PCI bus down to 68/34 from 88/44 and still no sound. So I locked it at 66/33 respecivly and boom. The onboard sound comes up and plays right away.
I bring the busses up again to 68/34 and the sound no longer registers again.
Wouldn't Abit at least put in sound that is upto task of their mobo's if they sell it?
