AGP & PCI-E slots both on Socket 939 MB?

Was wondering if anyone has heard anything concerning new 939 motherboards and if any will have both an AGP and PCI-E slot...

I am thinking no, the NF4 will have a PCI-Ex16 and a PCI-Ex8 so you can have dual PCi-E though. Unless the motherboard manufacturer figures out how to put one on. I am sure they could but I don't know if they WILL.

Sure can. HyperTransport with its tunneling approach is entirely modular and transparent from chip to chip. So when someone comes up with a HT-PCIE tunnel chip, you'll still be able to use a HT-AGP tunnel right next to it - very much like it's now done with HT-PCIX and HT-AGP tunnel chips on workstation boards like Tyan's Thunder K8W. In fact, you could have PCIX, PCIE and AGP all side by side on one single mainboard.

Or, for that matter, just nail an AMD 8151 HT-AGP tunnel in front of that NF4 chipset, and there you go.

That seems the most reasonable way of doing it. Then again we don't 100% know if NF4 will or won't support AGP, coudl very well be built in.

There were some reference boards floating around Comdex time. One was VIA I think. It's a niche - "nature abhors a niche." heh
