Agp owners- Leadtek 7600gt Agp 165.00$

havent heard much about this card, maybe I'll replace the 6800gt though. I did a quick google search but didn't find any in depth reviews.

In my opinion your better off spending the $60 you can save by getting a PCI-Express 7600GT and buying a PCi-Express mobo....buuut, for an AGP card, not a bad deal at all....😀

Don't bother unless your card is about to fail on you as the 7600 is only a little bit faster & not worth the expense... save your money for a PCIe motherboard.

For somone with say a 9800 Pro / 6600GT level card this is a pretty good deal though.

I think this is a good deal, when it was on the egg I believe the price was around 200 and they have pulled both leadtek and xfx 7600gt agp cards. I've been checking the last few days and nothing, although I saw an open box 7600gt go before I added it to my cart. I would buy this, I'm using a 9800 pro, but I think upgrading to pci-e would be the same investment and leave me with a better upgrade path for higher end cards after the g80 prices stabilize. If I could only find a good conroe board that had true pci-e x16 and supported ddr ram.

Ditto: i have a 7900GTO, and 4 x 512mb BH-5 Hyper-X i would like to move to a conroe RIG, but none of the Conroe boards with ddr support have full 16X PCI-E and don't overclock very well either.

SMOKING price for us AGPers! I would call this extremely hot since I just ordered one for 170.98 SHIPPED. Something from newegg, such as their Leadtek or the XFX (BOTH of which are out of stock) would have cost me ~200 shipped! OF course I get hit by sales tax....but all the more "hot" for this company.

Yeah yeah it has one D SUB, but I don't care...at this price, for the fastest (well tied with 7800GS- but it doesn't have as ridiculous power requirements) AGP card from Nvidia...this is a great deal

Finally glad I waited and held off on the Newegg cards as that patience proved to bear fruit... 🙂

yeah i wouls have ordered one too, but i got a used AGP 6800GT for $100.00 2 weeks ago so I don't need a AGP card anymore.

Riiight... and a new CPU, and new RAM.... I am not buying any more AGP cards myself. But if you need a new card, you might as well get it because the move to 775 or AM2 is really expensive.

anyone got theirs yet? still waiting...kinda getting worried because i've never really heard of htis place when i bit the bullet....

anyone else get this?

I have a 6800 128mb AGP card.... it bites with Battlefield 2142. I've overclocked the GPU to something like 400/905 (default is 325/700). I've also unlocked the 4 extra pipelines and vertex....helped....

But if I up the graphics detail much in the game, it gets too jumpy during battle scenes or any fast action.

I wish my system was older, but its ROCK stable and 3.0Ghz P4 @ 3.6Ghz, 2GB of very fast ram, and a very overclocked 6800 card doesn't keep up with today's games very well. 🙁

well, I havent tried BF so I cant say anything for that. But at least I am able to handle oblivion, GTR 2 and soccer games that I play 😉

Does this support Dual link DVI?

or a 3000+ Barton?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Neither of you provided details of what you play, the resolution, the card you'd upgrade from, amount of memory, whether your psu is beefy enough or needs upgraded at addt'l expense, how long you'd use it before switching to PCI Express, etc, etc, etc.

If you only want an answer as short as the question, then "no", there's no point upgrading unless you have a specific scenario in which you expect improvement. That doesn't mean there won't be any, it means we can see from many different benchmarks that there isn't just the one variable of which CPU you have. The generic answer would be, usually this is not a good value upgrade due to the expense put on a card that can't be reused on PCI Express platforms but if you had a very large display, the benefit increases.

Can't speak for Xarick, but my PC is mostly used for games. I currently play Doom3, Quake4, WoW, UT2004, and Starcraft. I would like to play F.E.A.R in the new future, and I'll take whatever resolution I can get. I have no plans to upgrade to a PCI-E MoBo in the near future, I want to stick with my 3000+ system as long as possible to wait for price drops in AM2 CPU's and MoBo's. When upgrade time does come, I'll give this system to the kiddies for their gaming enjoyment (building a new PC for myself).

I have an adequate PSU, 2 GB PC-3200, a geforce 6200 agp 128mb video card, and a 21" trinitron monitor.

What I would like to know, is if this card is complete overkill for my current CPU (3000+ Barton)? Would the CPU be a major bottleneck, and should I save the $65 extra and buy a 6600 AGP or X800?

Yes the CPU is a significant bottleneck, but it would still run substantially faster than the 6200. IMO, $165 is a bit much for your uses since you'll accept any resolution, and an X800 is a better bang for the buck.

Essentially it's a matter of where to draw that line in the sand, and IMO you're already past it because you want to play FEAR, and presumably, will want to play other forthcoming games too. So you'll have to build the new system either way, the only question is timing. Wait too long to give the card to the kids and they too will find it can't play (FEAR, etc), but I don't know what they play, so,

I'd sooner get the X800 for a skt A system.

There's a huge premium for the AGP version of the 7600GT. With the savings for a PCI-e Version you could go a long way toward a major performance upgrade...

You could go with a Socket 939 board with PCI-e and keep that nice 2gigs of DDR but have a serious boost to your CPU power.

Venice 3400+ 2.2Ghz 939 (OEM) and nForce4 Motherboard with PCI-e $99
http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Sho...rt.asp?submit=ADD&Itemlist=Combo.11398

Arctic Cooling Quiet (and inexpensive) CPU Cooler $15
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835186126

EVGA 7600GT PCI-e $112 after rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130062

So... $230 vs $165 ... that extra $65 goes a long way for overall performance over any barton.

just wanted you guys to know mine was finally shipped out through UPS...was on backorder forever (Since my first post!)- but apparently I was on the top of the list because I paid via paypal so they got my money already 😉 Just call them and find out for those who are wondering what happened - be nice to the guy though because he doesn't have good speaking skills and easily seems to get walked all over 😉

170 shipped.....schaaweet considering new egg would have run me ~200 with taxes

edit:

yes i agree the x800s are a better price for sure for those still on AGP...but with ATI's sorry state of Linux drivers anyone wanting real graphics acceleration using Linux has to use Nvidia
