Found this on another post regarding the 6800XT since I know the questions will come.

Well .. this product is a little bit weird isn't it ? It is really hard to place it in the right spot. Performance wise it places itself right between the 6600 GT and the vanilla (standard) 6800. In several scenarios the 6800 XT is slightly faster with settings like AA and AF enabled over that vanilla 6800 model (which have 128MB). And when you forget about these specific settings the 6800 wins here and there. So that's a very close call.
Thanks John

A nice deal if it unlocks to 16 pipes, average if it unlocks to 12, and at 8 pipes stock I really don't see how it comes close to 6800 nilla performance with only 325mhz core...?

I think it was last month that people were salivating over the 6600GT for $100 and from what I read this is better than that at stock settings. So if you can beef it up, I think you underestimate the card. Although I do agree that this deal is not all that hot. Just very warm.

i actually went for the 6600GT instead of this, they're at about same price AR. Nvidia is discontinuing all 6800 series soon. since their performance is about same, i thought i'd get more user support and maybe more cooling solution if i go for 6600GT.

it was a hard decision since 6800XT sounds more advanced, but if you really want something faster than 6600GT, go for the 6800GS. (beats any ATI X800 series and very competitive to the Ultra version). just FYI..

Also the ones currently at newegg are not the Galaxy (12 pipe) model, but 8 pipe versions.
