AGP 8x and Fast Write disabled after reformat

I just reformatted my computer, and installed DirectX 9.0b and the newest ATI Catalyst drivers, but I have a problem. In the display properties, when i go to SMARTGART, AGP setting is off, and Fast Write is also off. It should be set to AGP 8x and Fast Write on. Any clue why I can't change this?

Its an ASUS P4C800 Deluxe , Intel 875P chipset motherboard. On the CD it only has drivers for USB 2.0 (not required if you have XP SP1) and the onboard LAN. Nothing for the AGP 8x. When I first got this motherboard and upgraded, back in January, I didn't have this problem. AGP 8x and Fast Write turned themselves on automatically after the format and Windows install.

Get the latest intel chipset drivers. Did you check in the bios too see if agp 8x and fast write was turned on? If not, do so.

Yep, you need to install your motherboard's chipset drivers. Then reinstall your video drivers, I believe.

Yes. Look at the menu on the left and click on drivers.

Then click on the little symbol on the right that says download now.

It's an executable. Just run it.

Ok ive done what you said and i am still running essentially with no agp. I installed the new chipset drivers, then uninstalled the catalyst drivers, reinstalled them, and then reinstalled Directx 9.0b.

Yes, now check your BIOS settings.

Run DXDIAG and see what it says under DISPLAY about AGP texture acceleration.

What video card?

I just want to say that this problem has plagued me ever since i reformatted in January of this year and i apprecaite any help you guys can give me...really any help would be much appreciated. I have a 9600 pro.....board ak77-max 8x. AGP texture acceleration: Not available.

Normally reinstalling the mobo drivers / video drivers / DX9 corrects this.

If it does not, then I am stumped.

this has just happened to me with my 9800xt, and cat4.4
rolled back to 3.9 and no probs

installing 4.4 ask for fast write off and i think this causes the problem

I downloaded the drivers from Fileshack.com and installed them...uninstalled the others first. I noticed some improvement. I am able to use 4x agp now but i cant set it to 8x even though it is set to 8x in the bios.

Remember though, there is no difference in performance between 4X and 8X, so it's no loss if you can't get it to work.

I would want it to work though, because it should.
