AGP 6600 GT's available!!!

I understsand your excitement, since I just ordered this very card yesterday. However, Buy.com has it for $219 and there is a $15 off floating around.

Total for me shipped 2nd day to NC was $217.xx

Not bad at all!

not trying to threadcrap, but what advantage does this card have over the bfg 6800oc which is $249 at outpost.com?

not much really...

The RAM is GDDR3 which is clocked 300MHz faster than the 6800, and it's core is clocked 170MHz faster, but it has fewer pixel pipelines than the 6800 GT.

Honestly though, I've seen this card outperform the 6800 on alot of tests, so it's your call really.

I bought a 9800Pro cheap today, so that'll hold me for a while 🙂

The exact card I was looking to pickup. 🙂

A while back, lots of people thought these cards (the 6600gt) were going to retail about $200 (it is really up to each maker to decide the MSRP, if any). Since it looks like ATi won't have a X700XT in AGP for a while (if ever) I think at least some of the card makers will decide to give it a $220 MSRP. Even if they do, I think it is reasonable to expect for the cards to go on sale for at least 10% off (or even more) every so often. That should bring them down to under $200. When there is a larger supply I don't think it should be a problem finding it for under $200

Just todayi have seen the price of this thing flucuate from 245 to 225. The price of online places on pricewatch are fluctuating too. Im going to wait till it comes down and the price stabilizes. Theere is no reason it shoudl be more than the PCI-express version.

Anyone have luck o/c'ing this puppy? I am in the market for a new A64 system and that will be my card for a while.

if you're going to build a new system, build a pci-e one.

But what about hyperthreading and dual channel ram?

I am still loving the BLAST PROCESSING on my genesis!

Any idea where one might find an AMD based PCI-e mobo? I think the only ones currently available are
Pentium socketed.

Anyone seen the one 6600 PCIe Fry's has in todays paper for $167.99 doesn't seem to be GT version but the price looks right.

i wish i had made my computer right now so i could have built my computer with the nvidia 6600 gt instead of my ati radeon 9600 xt

Marine73-
the pci-e amd boards are going to be the nvidia nforce4 boards. just google nforce4 and you can find out about the selection. I think they are barely starting to appear, but if not they will in the first week(s) of december.

It's now showing $229.99. Factor in $15 coupon, $214.99 shipped. Still better than Newegg price though.

Actually it's not. I placed my order with 2-day shipping so I called today to find out where it was.

Back-ordered! Freaking Buy.com hasn't updated the webpage and it's backorder with a one week wait. So the deal is not so good.

Today Newegg has it for $225 with $3.99 shipping. Not as sweet but I know if NewEgg shows it in stock, then I'll get it.

This was the first order I've made with Buy.com in over two years because last time the exact same thing happened. I guess I'll wait another two.

I just bought some stuff for a new PC, but I'll upgrade in a few weeks when the new Nforce boards with PCIe come out in a few weeks.

Yeah, I ordered mine wed. morning from buy.com and its now friday afternoon and it still hasn't shipped.

One other question - the XFX model doesn't show it as coming with the HDTV module. It looks like pretty much every other brand of pciE 6600gt comes with it. Does anyone know if the XFX model includes it, but just doesn't list it?

Definitely agree that you should wait just a little bit longer and get a PCIe based A64 system. If you can afford a little extra on the motherboard (and maybe a slightly longer delay), I'd splurge for an NF4-SLI system. That gives you a very nice upgrade path, since you can just add in a second 6600GT down the road for a quick and easy performance boost. It's also nice that the PCIe version of the 6600GT is quite a bit cheaper than the AGP counterpart. My roommate just picked up one for $178 total for his Intel machine.

Same here. I called and asked what the status is, and I think I managed to hear through an extremely thick Indian accent that the card is currently in stock and should ship today. But then, maybe I heard that the card is backordered and won't ship for a long time. Could easily be either.

Basically that's right. The cost to mfg should be virtually identical. However the AGP card is new and in demand. So vendors are charging more for it. I think personally I'll hold off upgrading until the prices drop to the PCI-express level.
