Hi I have an Asus Geforce 2 Mmx 400 64-bit vid card. I really need an upgrade. I was looking at this card at www.newegg.com- Rosewill ATI RADEON 9600LE Video Card, 256MB DDR, 128-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP, Model "96LE-AD-256C" -RETAIL http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=14-164-007&catalog=23&manufactory=BROWSE

I have a Msi Via K7t266 Pro 2 Motherboard with 4x comptaible agp slot. The above video card is 4x and 8x agp compatible. Will the Rosewill video card work just as good on my mobo 4x agp slot as it would on a mobo with an 8x agp? If there is a difference on performance? How big is this difference? Am I better off getting a new motherboard with the video card? I play lots of games and i need a new up to date card. Does anyone know about this card, if it is good?

Thanks a lot!

4X and 8X AGP make no difference unless you do a ton of realtime video editing. Just stick it in the 4X slot.

I wouldn't get a 9600LE though. It has slow core and mem speeds at 325/400, and 256 megs of ram is a waste on the card. I would get a full 9600pro with 128 megs of ram and 400/600 core/mem clocks. It'll be a lot faster than the LE.

well anything really but make sure its 400/600 128mb. my 9600pro is made by Gigabyte and im very happy with it. since ive got some really high overclocks with it, its a great little card.

I have found some 8x cards will not boot in 4x boards so while it's usually not an issue there is potential for one.
