Agh! Another job rejection.

I guess my hopes of getting a job in a similar field as my degree (business) are going to be put on hold in lieu of bills. After a telephone interview, a regular interview, and a presentation interview I got a letter saying "Thanks for your interest but you suck" letter (well maybe not those exact words). And here's the thing that pushes me to the edge, it was a $8 an hour job/25-35 hours a week. All it really offered was a foot in the door, and I can't even get that.

Note to self: On the way to the mall to get job aps, swing by and get me a gun permit.

If you have a business degree you can pretty well rule out jobs like the one you mentioned. I have a CCNA, and about 8 years of hardware and software support experience. I applied for a job last year at a school district that pretty much anyone with ANY support experience could have done. They didn't even give me an interview. I called and talked to them and they were 'very interested', but never called to set up an interview. I called back a couple of days later, and the position had been filled. Luckily, I've found a great job at a hospital. Being over-qualified for a position is much worse than being under-qualified. The people doing the hiring don't expect you to stay around if a better job comes along. I'm not saying don't apply for jobs like that, but aim a little higher while you are at it. Good luck in the hunt. You're not alone.

Where are you located? Have you thought about moving or are you tied down there?

I am in wilmington NC and about to get out with a BS in Information systems AND Business MNGT. As of right now I plan on going North, as there is nothing for the most part going on in the south.

Right now I'm tied to southern California. Have a year lease on my apartment. Seemed logical at the time since I went to school down here and in my initial search before I graduated lots of the nation wide searches I ran seemed to have jobs in LA area. Still that way but it seems the jobs are much more difficult to get than I anticipated.
