I guess if you also throw in the 30 off 100 coupon that it might be a feasible camera...the specs are kind of week, but good for someone's first dcam.

The specs:
This camera lets you take up to 32 images and download them right into your computer.
Software helps you e-mail images directly to friends.
An internal memory similar to a roll of film, eliminates the hassle and expense of external memory cards.
Doubles as a quality video conferencing camera for your on-line chats.
Built-in flash and 2 MB internal memory means you can take up to 32 640 x 480 pixel pictures in one go. Then, plug in the camera using its fast USB connection and download those shots.

Make sure this is a true 640 by 480 resolution camera, I got an AGFA digital camera a couple months back thanks to this forum and it looked good until I saw the pictures, they were 640 by 480 alright, but it was interpolated up from 320 by 240. The pictures were ok if i reduced them to original resolution but there was no option on the camera to take at the lower res, I would have preferred to have been able to store twice as many pictures than have to edit them myself to get acceptable quality. BEWARE OF AGFA.

Nice deal, but I've found agfa cameras to have horrible software and picture quality issues. If you want a cheap camera, this isn't a bad deal. If you're looking for something you want to take decent pictures with, you might want to pass this up.

Buy.com sells the same camera for $99.95, no mention about the rebate though...

Agfa ePhoto CL18 @ Buy.com

If you can PM it at Staples, or get the rebate from the manufacturer for your buy.com purchase, it will be a hotter deal!

Does anybody know whether the rebate is valid only for Staples or no matter where you buy? It says manufacturer's mail-in rebate however asks for the serial#.

I got suckered into getting the AGFA eSmile cam. Because of that very camera, I will avoid AGFA like the plague. That cam had some sort of fictional resolution that was interpolated and looked like hell. I could not believe what a horrible camera this company would put their name on. I'm still bitter, can you tell? :)

Boooo(halloween pun) on afga....similar "claims" with their scanners too....

Story:
I'm at store, looking at a hp, epson, afga scanner. All three are rated at same lines/sec, optical res, and color.

I do a scan of a wallet photo on max optical.

HP and epson take about same time and look similar.

Afga takes almost 2x as long, colors are way off.

All were USB, and I used same computer (my laptop) for the tests using correct drivers for each.

Yup, the AGFA eSmile is a peace of junk!
My friend bought one from accompany.com and went to eb@y on the 3rd day.
