I don't really get this quote. I have created the smith (blacksmith?) that bloweth the smoke in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; (what's the significance of the bringeth forthing of the instrument for his work?) and I have created the waster to destroy. (Is the waster to destroy what the smith creates, to destroy the smith, or is the waster someone for the smith to destroy?)

I don't see how this applies to Agent Smith's role in the two Matrix movies so far. In this bible quote the smith is "good", and we obviously are lead to believe otherwise about the agent in the movies. I think it'd be lame if he ended up being human, completely stupid IMO. Pretty much the same as watching a movie and and the end the main character wakes up and "it was all just a dream!"

A virus from the humans, fine that's alright (and even in that case it only makes sense if he was inserted as a virus after neo killed the original), but I don't buy him being the One.

Whatever though, we don't have enough information to really be able to deduce anything significant. So frustrating.

Unless the role of "the smith" as tender of the fire and bringer forther of instruments refers to agent smith's role as the sort of police force for the matrix, and the waster is neo, then that makes a little sense.

Even then only a little sense because why would neo be the waster if he's supposed to be the one, the hero, the protagonist? Atypical.

The Screener rip which has been floating around the net for weeks now has it pretty clearly IMO. Nothing to search for or to be pointed out.

We can't understand girls either, yet some of them suck ;)

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm... Girls that suck........... ;)

I don't know. I'll hold judgement on Reloaded until I see Revolutions. There are too many "danglies" in Reloaded. If they're left as danglies, then it absolutely sucks. If Revolutions follows through with them, and ties 'em in a nice bow, then it will not have sucked.

But I agree that the rave scene was a POS. I've seen the redubbed one too. Only a marginal improvement.

I love Maxim Magazine's quote:

"If you think Matrix Reloaded was deep, you're stupid."

LOL taking nuggets of wisdom from Maxim. I don't know who should feel more stupid, the people that thought Reloaded was deep or people that take Maxim seriously.

good call.
im amazed someone would even admit to reading it!

I agree, he may just wake up and it will all be a dream and he will see Morpheus and Trinity at work and tell them, "You were in it and you were in it and even you were in it Mr. Smith."

Actually it would be cool if Smith were the one but not human. Their saviour was really computer AI. A highly evolved computer AI fighting against itself simply exhibiting human traits of rebellion, freedom, and vengence.

I didn't really like the 2nd movie all that much, but I have hope for the 3rd and I want to see how it all ends.

So what... if Neo is Jesus, and he is coming to save us humans (the machines), and his disciples are like Zion, and Neo ends up dying to save us, then that means Smith (a machine) is the representation of us Christians who ended up overcoming the other "machines"?

that would make sense as to why there are so many Smiths... and he is constantly converting others to his cause...

Consider that the machines created the Smith program, they created the Matrix, they created the car and it's license plate that Agent Smith drives. So to the machines he is a good guy.

I think the fallacy we are all using here is that we assume the creators of the movie are thinking that the Bible is good and was written by good people. However, if you look at it the other way (that the Bible is an evil book written by evil people) we can see that Smith was created by the machines and that the waster to destroy is Neo. Since that is from an evil perspective though it basically tells us nothing about the movie that we don't already know.

He WAS a good guy to the machines. Now, however, he has mutated and is a virus, working according to a new set of rules, no longer taking instructions from the matrix, overwriting himself on all that he needs including agents. This is a result of his intense/explosive encounter with Neo in the original movie. Something's changed. Can we then assume that Trinity will also be somewhat altered not that Neo has had his hand in her um, well, code?

Biblically, Smith or the minions of evil would be the destroyers. Although Isaih's prophecies mostly referred to biblical times, there are some end-time prophecies. For the most current information about what will happen in the end days read revelations....very chilling.

Theres tons of analysis on the net, just do a search. I've heard that all the license plates in the movie are bible verses.

I believe that statement to be incorrect. Only certain license plates seem to have a Biblical reference. Here's what I saw when watching it last night:

The car Ghost & Niobe were in had a license plate # of BQ231. There are no books in the Bible that fall into that pattern. As well, the semi that one of the Agents were driving at the end of the highway scene (before they crash head on) was TX729. Still, no biblical relevance.

On the flip side, the Cadillac CTS that Trinity, Morpheous, & the Key Maker were in had a license plate # of DA203, which would pertain to Daniel 2:30, and states:

He said to them, "I have had a dream that troubles me and I want to know what it means.

Very interesting to say the least

The Cadillac EXT that the Twins were in had a license plate # of DE2852, which would pertain to Deuteronomy 28:52, and states:

They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until the high fortified walls in which you trust fall down. They will besiege all the cities throughout the land the LORD your God is giving you.

I'm thinking this may refer to the Machines coming to destroy Zion. I'm anxious to see how Revolutions plays out and see if any of these verses have relevance.

The one thing that I am curious about, and will probably have to throw in the first Matrix DVD, is whether or not the car they picked Neo up in to take him to see Morpheous for the first time has a "relevant" license plate #.
