You do realise that the CPU cant do around 30000 to 40000 different physics objects on the fly... more like 100 to 200 only.

The PPU is stated to have the capability of producing water physics too. So say in an FPS you can actually make blood seeping from a body actually have physics. Or if it was reproduced in Far Cry you could say carry a bucket and submerge it in the water and carry the water with you, pour it down a plank and would realisitically flow down back into the water.

It also as other posters say allows for far more destructible terrain. Maybe even no more need for parrallax mapping with bullet holes and stuff.

One poster said he would be waiting for the Cell Factor game. Anybody watched the 200mb vids of them, it shows all that, cloth tearing, about 300 or even more objects moving real time as well as water physics.

I for one will definitly get the card as i can see great potential in this. What ppl are saying about CPUs which are a general purpose machine can do that many physics is just as good. If something like the PPU which is a dedicated source is compared to a general purpose machine then well of course the dedicated source is going to be much better at it than the general purpose machine.

The PPU isnt stating it can make performance better or make your graphics better or anything like that, but it can make the gameplay better as well as interactivitly within the game will take a whole new level. All its saying is can do more of the same. As well you cant really make better phyics.

Just hold on and we should see more and more games come out using the PPU, if you dont think they arnt going to be used wide spread, why not check the Unreal 3 Engine specs. As it states it is coded for the PhysX card as well as the software physics from Ageia. And there are what about 20 games already announced using that engine!
