Age to rent a car?

I am confused:

I need to rent a car for 2 days and from what I have heard you need to be 25.

On a rental site, it says 21 though for government and business rentals. I am 21 years old

So can I just say I am using it for business and be able to rent?

I used them about a dozen times between the ages of 21-25.

I usually rented the cheap Neon but it worked 🙂

Beware - they will charge you THROUGH THE NOSE if you're under 25. Read the fine print, call ahead, get the real rates. It goes from $15/day to something like $60/day. I got screwed on that once before.

I used an unknown local company and they charged me $5 more a day for being 21. Worked really well actually.

I was on enterprise, and they quoted me 10 bucks extra per day for being 21. Not bad, 20 bucks for 2 days. Since its for my business, I can write it off as an business expense

Dont go with enterprise. I and many others have had horrible experiences with them. I rented a car a few weeks ago and it was really bad. The tires were bold and it would slide around and was seriously dangerous to drive. Now I didnt even mention it to them and just let it go. Now I get a letter in the mail that the car was in an accident and I need to complete an accident report form. WTF. The car was not in an accident when it was in my possesion it wasnt even scratched. It was in the same condition as given. I dont know what to do now and going down to their office first thing in the morning.

Regardless of this blob of text, I have used Enterprise many times and usually paid around $35 a day after all fees for a small car. :thumbsup:

Same here and my average was around $50 per day during weekends including optional insurance.

what are bold tires? and why didn't you mention it to them?

About the underage fee... I work for Enterprise and in my region we don't charge underage fees (although we could) unless we're billing an insurance company for the rental and they've authorized and underage surcharge.

Other branches in other regions may be different though. Our company policy is to charge underage fees, but it's really up to the branch if they want to do it or not.

Oh yeah, you can also rent a car at Enterprise if you're 18, 19, or 20 years old too as long as it's for a replacement nature, ie; going through insurance claim and your car is in the shop, and you have full coverage insurance on your own car that transfers to rental cars.
