Age of pictures in Google Earth

My last residence is just shown as a dirt spot in the middle of nowhere, and I know the building to at least be five years old. So this got me wondering exactly how far back in time am I looking, and how often they are updated. Does anyone have any idea what the update schedule happens to be?

Depends 😉

I can tell my local ones age by looking at building work at the uni down the road usually.

Yeah the place I'm talking about is just outside of Amarillo, TX they do have high resolution pictures of the area, but not the building itself. I guess Amarillo doesn't (and understandably so) have a very high priority.

again, you can easily date it by work around it, if you know the area.

There's a check box under layers (I believe it's "DG Globe Coverage") that lists the exact date of each picture.

They have updated the pics of my area pretty recently. Last year my area was low res and showed a field where my house it. Now I can ID my car in the driveway.

If you look at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, CA, you see that the field is being prepared for USC vs. Michigan. That game was played on Jan 1, 2004. (There was a rematch this year on 1/1/07, but I saw that image on Google Earth prior to the game as well.)
