We're having a little argument in Neochat over this....what exactly does the age of consent law mean? My understanding is that if one person is 17 and the other is say, 18, that its perfectly legal, as long as the 17 year old consents, correct?

No, it's 18/18 each. It can be 16/18 with parental permission. That's what I've heard.

Totally depends on the state.

In some states, it's as low as 14.

I'm lazy.

The question isn't what is the age of consent. I know that. Its 16 in my state. The question is, what exactly does that mean?

It means that's the age they deem the individual capable of deciding for themselves.
