I'm really concerned about this game.
I did not like the way funcom developed anarchy online .
It was like Funcom is up here and the players are down below.
I'm really hoping they have changed their "Developer knows best" motto.

Also the cop out they use about having to use fileplanet because there was no other way, is at the least pathetic.
I got the fileplanet account so its no big deal for me, but plenty of others shouldn't be required to pay for the 'privilege' of testing a beta.

That is not 'open beta' , that is paid promotion.

and the players know best? look at all the whining in WoW about "overpowered" classes and such. it was ridiculous. they should compromise if anything.

Developers have to control what gets changed.
But when 90% of the players want a change and you tell them NO and close threads talking about it, you have gone too far.

Anarchy Online was a failure, not because of the game itself, but because of the way funcom ran it.

yea i dont know why anyone is shocked by the monthly fee

They prolly look at how much you get in WoW for your fee comparatively and of course, it's going to be more as the game is older.

I wouldn't mind getting into the stress test to try it out, but I most likely will only play it once (like many other MMOs that I've beta'd), say, "this sucks" and go back to WoW. Most of the other games have promising features, but they lack in so many other ways.

I hope this is including one month of game time otherwise the total cost to try out this game is $75. WoW at release was $50 and came with a one month trial. If the game is indeed $75 then the servers damn well better be virtually lagless at release.

I'm still bitter from trying out vanguard. God what a miserable waste of $50 GOD.

That's exactly what happens to me. It doesn't exactly 'suck' per se but it's going to take a lot more than that to make me leave my WoW character that I have invested so much time on for the last 2.5 years.

That's probably true for many. After EQ 1 even though I tried WoW I just could not get into it.

So I'll be purchasing AoC as I think that will be more up my alley.

Everyone wants a quality product this days, they want it with a lot of things to do.. fun... people to play with... or solo in some cases... they want a game (mmo one) having at their point of view what they could call.. the allmighty game...

the problem is that they dont want to pay... all this stuff needs money...

is like people that want a computer that they can play well.. with no lag... can watch bluray movies... have an insanely good camara to record their livings... a hell of a big screen, digital speakers and such....... and believe me that some people had asked for this... in the end when you tell them... the computer is for 2000 bucks.. they turn on the tantrum switch on and start complaining.. whinning.... and flamming.... HELLO!!!! things cost money... it doesnst matter if you have it or not... too bad!!!!.... still cost the bucks....

If you dont want to pay for the game.... then dont hope for it to be good and so allmighty.....

if you are feeling like a rat.. or something... play a F2P mmo...

What? I am a comcast subscriber, did not know they gave that to us. Is it part of the standard cable broadband internet subscription or the high end?

Yep,PaulNEPats is right. I just did a Google search for Comcast Founder's Club membership, and signed up for Fileplanet Founder's Club annual subscription without spending a penny. Thanks Paul!

I disagree; ultimately, the developers and players may not agree, and if the developers think a change would hurt the game a lot, they can say no.

Players can sometimes ask for things that are bad for the game. Imagine if players said finding groups was a headache, so they wanted all content soloable (for the sake of argument). If the developers put that in, and players had a greatly reduced social experience, they might have a blast for a week clearing out the content, and then quit the game as not being fun any more. A pretty extreme example, but one that illustrates at least the principle that there can be some situations the developers should say no to.

Mechanisms the devs put in to slow player progress to fit the content development schedule might be unpopular, but better from the devs' view than the alternative.

Of course, developers should want to try to give players what they want if they can and there's no reason not to.

Hmm must of missed the link the first time around. Thanks. All signed up now if I can just get a key when it opens again.

You know, I downloaded the zip file. I ran the install, but it seems to extract a bunch of files to my C:/ partition. I had 10 gig free, now I'm down to 300 meg. Not sure what these temp files were, or where they can be found. I installed the game to my D:/ partition and that went ok.
Any suggestions on what temp file decompressed, and where I can find/delete them on my c drive?

LOTRO is a bore though. The pvp is just, junk.
I've had that game since beta, and I rarely play it. Just boring.

Bah, I just have the 6mb service. It only is fast in the mornings, it is very slow in the afternoon / night once everyone in the neighborhood gets home and starts using bandwidth, so I figured why pay for 8mb down when it never comes close to its potential with the 6mb service at night.

F this game. I was thinking about picking it up even though i'm more a fan of SP RPG games.. But $15 a month.. Forget that.

I'll be getting the game.

Maybe MMORPG developers need to produce two products:

1) Server for the monthly fee complainers. They buy the game and get what they get out of the box. No content updates. No support. If the server crashes, they'll restart it sometime next week.

2) Normal servers that receive constant fixes, game enhancements and content updates. This would be for those who understand that companies need to pay employees for their continued service.

It's a MMORPG. The monthly rate of 15 bucks is standard in the industry.

these types of posts always make me lol

The MMO addicts will surely buy this game. Quite a few people in our WoW guild said they'd buy it to see what it's like.

I personally think they'll try it for awhile and soon find themselves back to playing WoW...

I got into the "open" beta and I'll be using that to see what it's like. Of course, if I find any bugs I'll report them, but honestly, who signs up for betas just to find bugs?

If I don't like it then I'll wait a bit before buying it, or just skip it all together and check out Warhammer (even though that could flop also).

Same. Here I don't like WoW just bored me didn't care for world etc..

I'm in open for Conan hopefully it's good. No matter what I have to at least try War when it comes out also.

I'm fine with the 15 bucks a month. But the buying the game for 60 bucks is ridiculous. I'll go on playing my free to Download Eve Online, thank you.
