Is this game worth a purchase ? I just built a new rig and looking to purchase 2-3 PC games.

I played Conan on th PS3 and I thought it was fun. Is Hyborian Adventures on the same level as that ?

And about how long is the game?

What about Gears Of War ? I have played it on the 360. How different is the PC version ? Do they add anything for the PC ?

Should I purchase two other games or just stick with these two?

Age of Conan is a mmo, so you'd pay a monthly fee and in theory is endless play. It's horribly broken (imo) and I wouldn't waste the money on it. Each patch until I quit just went backwards.

Pretty sure Gears is the basically the same as on 360 with a bit more content.

Well, I already have the Orange Box and finished the games on it. LOVE Portal. I have played and finished Bioshock and STALKER. I played some of COD4 and got half way through and got tired of it.

I never played Rainbow Six Vegas 2. But by the looks of it, it may be ok.

Why not Gears or Conan though ? Anything bad about them ?

EDIT: Ok, I see the post now about Conan. I guess thats a good reason not to get it

EDIT: You actually have to pay a monthly fee for Conan ? What kind of shit is that ? I didn't know that. Well, when I buy my games, thats the price I am paying, not a monthly fee. So Conan is out.

Yup, sadly AoC is broken...damn, damn, DAMN!

I was hoping it would be good, level 1-20 was great, but after that it was okay...then at level 50, it got pretty broken.

Nope, Funcom messed up the Conan franchise so badly even rabid fanboys are jumping ship. I have never seen an MMO go from hero to zero in such a fashion before. I cannot even begin to explain all the errors funcom as done, its as if they were deliberatly trying to lower their user base or some such non-sense.

STAY AWAY FROM AoC
I read somewhere already only 2 months in some servers are being consolidated due to dwindling populations. This game made vanguard's launch look like a blockbuster success.

Seriously, avoid Age of Conan. Could have been an amazing game, but I think in the spirit of the Olympics they're gunning for a new record at driving away customers. By all indications, they're succeeding far beyond their own expectations.

If you are referring to me...yes, I pay cable net.....and cell phone. But if I am going to pay $50 for a PC game, I am NOT going to continue to pay Microsoft a monthly fee just to keep playing it.

why pay for cable when you bought the tv? OTA should be good enough.

Get the new Stalker that is getting ready to come out soon, the first one is good, just got to mod it up and it is still great.
Crysis if you haven't played it

Can't think of too much else atm, Warhammer Online has been sucking up my time for a long time now, can't wait for it to go live.

You are trying to compare two completely different things. Purchasing a TV does require paying for cable service.

For a game...after it is purchased, it should be yours to play as long as you want. Once its paid for, its paid for. Should not have to keep paying for it.

By what you are saying, I buy a TV....purchase cable to watch tv. Then...while I am paying for cable....keep on making monthly payments on the TV even though it was already paid in full ?

No. Do not buy this game. It is an unfinished failure by funcom.
Played til 80, and like every other player out there, became bored. Now the server is bare.

Yea, By the sounds of you guys here, its broken anyway. So the whole paying fee's thing is irrelevant for me anyway since I won't be buying a broken game.

I played S.T.A.L.K.E.R before and I think made it half way through, then never went back to it. Bioshock like I said...I have it installed now. Basically I am looking for two games to keep my attention. I played Gears on the 360 and while I think the controls would be better on the PC, dont really want to get it now since ive been down that road.

I would rather play single player. Some multiplayer games I do play and like, but single player is more my thing.

Dude you're missing his point. You're not making continuous payments for the TV, you're making payments for cable. In general MMO's are much deeper than your typical RPG with about 20 hours of playtime. They generally have (or should have) constantly changing content for thousands of players in a persistant world.

Two different things.

so OTA TV is not available any more?

you're paying for the devs to make new content and keep the game running. it's a completely different animal than a SP game or even a MP FPS type game. The servers in an MMO are all run by the company. In FPS games, it's 99.9% of the time being run off a server rented by the players.

I guess people learn something new everyday. See...I didnt know that MMO servers were ran by the company. To be quite honest...I have never even played a MMO. I will agree that this is different than other types of multiplayer, which I am used to. I see your point though, the fee is to keep servers running and new content. Ok..I agree with that.

So in the end, I guess you were right.

But I still wouldn't pay the monthly fee because its a broken game. Now if it were not *broken* I would have to think about it. :)

Oddly half the people who have commented on this and my thread have quit after getting at least one character to level 80. I agree the game is bugged and could be a great bit better but I have yet to get one character to the level cap in either AoC or WoW so end game is not an issue for me as yet.
