The oft-delayed PC edition of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures has gone gold and entered the manufacturing process, developer Funcom and publisher Eidos had announced.

Complete with nipples and over-the-top violence, the mature MMO is slated to launch on May 20 in North America, with a European release following on May 23. An Xbox 360 will arrive at a later, unspecified date.

"Age of Conan has been in development for a long time, as with all MMOs, but we have spent that time well and ended up with a game we are incredibly proud of," said Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas. "We believe we have truly succeeded in realizing the vision of the game."

Hmmm, so have they done a beta with the beta of the final version? Or is this game going to have more bugs then a rotting dead corpse?

I don't know about you guys but I wasn't too impressed with the closed PVP weekend beta. The performance was laggy, and PvP still had some major balance issues to be ironed out. This game is basically going to come out before it is ready. How can the game go Gold without an Open Beta that the developers can use to further improve the game? I foresee another Vanguard coming.

I'll say it again, I was not impressed with funcom when they did the development of Anarcy Online.
Unless the company has done a major overhaul, I'm expecting lots of disgruntled players.

They should have kept the going gold announcement silent until after the open beta.
This gives them the appearance of the "We will just patch any problems later, after we have your cash"
