yea, there is one friend pass per game.... but it is blank, the code is SUPPOSE to be on the registration page. BUT, I guess it isn't ready yet. so I couldn't get one even after registering... you might have to wait for a little bit.

i'm giving my only code to my brother when i get one.

edit: there are several threads in age of conan forum with people asking about the guest pass. turns out that they will not be issued until dust is settled and people who actually paid for the game have the chance to get in.

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know if the early access client is still being hosted by funcom anywhere? I had a friend grab me a collector's edition from Gamestop when he went to go pre-order his, and he has had both in his position since their release, but seeing as how I'm stuck three states over until tomorrow at the earliest, I was hoping to possibly get at least a little play time in tonight. My account is activated and ready to go (asked my friend to open my box and send me the registration code), but alas, I currently have no client with which to use it.

Any idea of how long it takes to install the download version on a 6 MB connection for example? I am buying the game for both myself and a friend who lives far away and going to send her the activation code online.

Took me a day and a half to dowload it on a 3mb downpipe. But its peer 2 peer so you might have better luck than me, I dl'ed it before they officially released it to everyone so there weren't as many seeds.

Yeah, I was running about 190Kbs and it took me probably about 20 hours but it was early access so I don't know. It was like 31 gigs all said and done.

'friend' codes aren't available until a few weeks after launch, to let the first wave settle in.

early access downloaded at 2+mb/s for me on my cable....and all of the updates did as well.

BTW, here is a post on the forums about the wait :

The buddy keys that come with every edition of the game ( one with the normal version and five with the collectors edition ) will be provided through the accounting tool once the first wave of paying customers has settled on the servers.

So soon you will be able to take your friend with you and show them the beautiful lands of Hyboria!

soo, PM me in a few days/weeks and ill toss out some codes!

Be sure to set your upload limit to the lowest possible setting. That will get you better download speed. I figured this out after several hours. :)

I'm thinking that by mid-June Funcom will release the buddy keys. That's the first week of the billing cycle for the game I believe.

Right now I'm about level 55 (80 being the level cap). I play a Herald of Xolti. Think a berserk Viking wearing underwear and a two handed axe and you've got a pretty good idea what a HoX does. They are considered in the mage class, but really don't have any offensive spells. Almost all of our damage comes in bursts through the combo system; a repeated series of keystrokes to perform a move, similar to Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat.

Gameplay: Being a HoX means that you're probably looking to sologrind most of your levels. Seems everytime I try to get into a group they say that they have a Ranger or an Assassin already and don't need any other DPS classes. Which is ok. You can do about 90% of the game soloing quests and the rare occasional level grind. Quest items are rarely geared towards HoX's. Usually your destiny quests will yield items for your HoX. Green items (good quality) are pretty much going to be your norm for gear. The good news is that HoX gear is cheap on the AH.

Crafting: Some bugs still need to be worked out, but I chose Weaponsmithing/Gem Crafting. One of the nice things about those two professions is that I can slot my own cut gems into the weapons I make. I made a 2-handed Blue two-handed sword when I turned 50 and slotted it with three gems. I recently did a quest line where there was a really good 2 handed Axe (Blue/superior quality). I used it for doing a daily quest and found myself not killing the mobs as quickly. Even though the Axe had about 5 more DPS than my sword. I'll probably be using the sword til I ding 60 and can then start crafting my T3 weapons.

PvP: I have no experience PvPing as of now, but will probably be looking at it around 70, just to get my feet wet.

Conclusion: I can only comment from this point of view. Others may have differing opinions. But I really like playing my HoX. Nothing more satisfying than taking a lot of damage, then ripping someone's heart out, gaining back about a third of your health, and beat the everliving snot out of that mob. Fatalities are nice. I have one that I stick my weapon into their chest, do a little laugh and pull the sword out. Another one I burst a guy into flames just by looking at him. But the best one is the one that I'm cutting the mobs head and two arms in a couple of sword strokes. Fatalities = very quick stamina boost, which is nice because I use a lot of it for my combos. It is a unique class to play. Don't be looking for this class to be the OMGOVERPOWERED class in the game. But if you like a challenge and hate the smell of leather in swamps, then I would recommend the Herald of Xolti class.

I'm only 24 and I'm getting really f-ing tired of having to click on an enemy 5 or 6 times (somtimes 10 or more if they're moving) to actually target it. It's either that or spam tab and hope you can target it before you're toast. And good luck picking a target out of a mob. How do you screw up something as simple as targeting?

yeah.. then that type of 'class' probably isn't for you. try PoM or Tos, so far it is the most complete class (some would say overpowered). i was bored playing a conqurer to level 24 and ready to trash the game. PoM gave me 62 levels of bearable fun.
