I have the 128Gb version, im really thinking about getting this

I paid $180 for my 128gb m4. Dang!

Someone on SD said that Amazon has it for $190, but you might be able to PM it at Staples. That plus the usual coupons makes it interesting.

Crucial M4 256gb SSD $189.99 on Amazon! can PM to get from Staples at $159.99 AC

Might be gd for those who want to use the coupon and PM to Staples.

Steps.

1)check that staples still has it in stockuy
2)buy the $30/$150 coupon from known places.
3)buy from staples and check out with the coupon
4)use live chat/call in to staples for PM.

Hmm, Gotta pay taxes and pick it up. Rather just spend the 180.

No rebate on newegg also.
+1

plus you'll wait twice as long, maybe longer, to get your SSD from Amazon (via their free "super saver" shipping) than you would had you ordered it from newegg...so really the only difference is the coupon code. and if folks are buying from one place b/c they're too lazy to enter a coupon code, then i believe humanity has hit a new low w/ respect to laziness lol...

this. also if you have a chase card you can buy amazon gift cards at a discount 5%. so a $399 512gb cost me 379 from amazon a $179 256gb cost me $170.

sales tax in NJ is 7% my newegg discounts are 6% So the 399 costs me 403 and the 179 cost me 181. Also amazon returns are easy. newegg can be a pita (you have to pay even when you have been sent the wrong item).

Still newegg ,amazon, superbiiz ,ebay, buy.com are on my buy list

While you don't have to pay the sales tax at time of purchase when it's not charged, as a reminder you do owe it on your income taxes - many people think it's just 'no tax at all'.

So, some might value being able to defer paying, but we don't want to advocate tax cheating, so it's good to not just say 'tax isn't charged'; over 90% of people do cheat now.

Do you understand what " Federal Income Taxes " are, as opposed to " Sales Taxes "..

The last time I checked, we do not have a " Federal Sales Tax " in the U.S. ..

Does the state you live in have a form for submitting uncollected sales tax ?

The state I live in does not..

Many states do. Sometimes they like to make it seem like it's not sales tax by calling it 'Use tax' in CT it's called Sales and Use tax.

Many states have a "use" tax which is exactly that....uncollected sales taxes on items purchased out of state that are not charged taxes on when purchased. It is filed on the state income tax forms (KY and many other states have them).

the chase amazon discount of 5% involves buying amazon gift cards.

https://creditcards.chase.com/freedom/

right now you would have to have the freedom card. they give 5% off supermarket purchases, this ends june 30.

so if you have the right chase card and you have the 5% cash back setup you can 1500 bucks worth if amazon cards by the 30th of june. in july and august you can buy the cards at gas stations. I have a card and spend 3k on the cards gives me 150 dollars off each year. Amazon cards can be put in your amazon account to be spent throughout the year.

Or you could just get an Amazon chase card and get 5% off your Amazon purchases.

It works but has less flexibility. Pays less My Amazon chase card gives me 3 %. I use it when I have spent all my Amazon gift cards.

The supermarket gift card deal along with buying gift cards at the gas stations allows for great choice. Plus the points earned can be spent on gift cards that chase sells. 3 months a year chase puts amazon cards on sale for 10% off. So spending the 3000 gets 15000 points over a 5 month earning period. My wife and I have a joint card 15000 more points combine them to one card 30,000 points or 300 bucks.
when chase sells the correct gift card on sale a 25 dollar card is 2250 points not 2500. So you get 325 in cards with 750 points leftover. Net discount is 332.50 bucks for 6000 spent or 5.54 percent.

All this assumes you pay the bills off. You can even get 2.5% on top of the 5.54% but that deal may not be legit. I just started trying it and won't know if it works until a few months.

What if I have it delivered to my brother in a different state (no sales tax) and I get it from him later? Am I suppose to pay the sales tax on it later in that situation?

Depends on the state you live in. If it's CT then yes, you owe taxes unless you didn't pay for it at all.

Ok, just looked up NYS tax code. Appearantly if I buy a Mt. Dew in a state (or even NY state county) with lower sales and drink it in my own county in NY, I'm suppose to record it on my "use" tax form pay the difference. Or if my car is repaired, or get a haircut in one of these other states/counties. I hope I don't get audited!
