Aftermarket cooler for 7900gt

Not sure how creative you are. But, I've seen people use the NV Silencer 5 on the 7900GT. The only part was some of the exhaust needed to be trimmed. And, you need to purchase BGA heatsinks for the memory to keep cool decently. YMMV.

vf900 with OCZ BGA ram heat sinks would be great but a little expensive.
Maybe the NV5 silencer or Accelro X1. (X2 is for X1800/X1900)

Application:
NVIDIA 6800 series
NVIDIA 7800 series (just PCIe)
NVIDIA 7900 GTX
not compatible to most 7900 GT boards (passive cooler for 7900 GT will be available from 06/2006)
Please check your board with the height restriction drawing to assure compatibility.

Bolded for emphasis 😎

A zalman vf700 should do just fine. From my own testing the vf900 at full speed is only slightly better than the vf700cu at full speed, and the vf900 also seemed a bit louder too. For any card that does not run hotter than a x850xt, the vf700 will provide good cooling results.

It does not. It shows the stock cooler giving a bit better temps but no way it shows it as more silent. You must have seen wrong. I see nothing wrong with the results. A loud fast spinning fan against Zalmans quiet slow moving fan I would figure gives these exact results.

Only thing that will fit is the VF900 and the VF700 from zalman. The Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 (Rev. 3) can be modded to fit. Thats about it.

From the looks of things the KuFormula VF1 Plus may be the best choice. Cheaper than tha VF900 and easier to install than the V1 Ultra and should beat both in cooling performance. I have one coming in next week. I'll report some temps then.

You have to get a hacksaw and cut about an inch of the plastic shroud off. I don't have any pics of it though.

The modded AC Silencer is the best solution. It actually exhausts hot air out of the case, where the other 3 keep it inside.
