After much pain and suffering I decided on a Samsung Galaxy S 11 with ATT.

I would go with the SGSII. Yeah, your going to have to wait for ICS but by the time your phone gets it the initial bugs will be ironed out. You love the high res screen but as others have mentioned that has it's own set of issues plus the Nexus doesn't have a SD card slot. The Nexus is being made into more than what it is IMHO.

Honestly, I think the SGSII is the better device. GNexus has the 720p, but its pentile. The only compelling thing I would say is ICS and I wouldn't update to a phone just for software.

pentile wasn't really noticeable at all on the GN screen i saw. not anything close to the annoyance that was the nexus one screen.

The PenTile screen is probably an effective 640p resolution, so it's still very good. It's still an awesome screen. It also has extremely thin margins around the screen, and no physical buttons, so it has a massive 4.65" screen that acts more like a 4.4" screen.

I would still recommend sticking with the GSII though. The GSII is awesome as a phone - the best on the market today. Good luck.

I don't think that I would buy a phone with the title "Ice Creme Sandwich" as part of its marketing. Actually, I almost don't won't to buy a "Samsung Galaxy S II". But, I have lots of peer pressure for products like this. And I have been beaten down by it all.

extremely thin bezel is bad. You have to be SUPER careful that when your thumb reaches across the screen you don't touch the screen edge. with any part of your palm...

I agree with this, but I think it starts to be less of an issue as the device gets bigger.

Ice Cream Sandwich is the code name for Android 4.0. Google uses dessert dishes for it's Android code names, Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, and Gingerbread have been past versions.

Why would the name or marketing material really bother you though? :)

I defer to your first two sentences.

nvm, misread your phone choice; S II rather than S 11 though =)

Wish I could get one with Verizon.
