I don't even mind Martyrdom as much as I do dying from a grenade halfway across the map when I am not a red dot on the map because I am silenced and no UAV online on their side, so they are obviously just spamming hotspots.

Example, people throwing grenades over buildings on District. They can't aim, they know they can't hurt their teammates, so they chuck 3x grenades.

I wish they could figure out a way of curbing grenade spam.

At this point console players have barebones TDM and PC players can still ban perks on servers. The amount of spam is still incredibly stupid though. If I was to try and solve grenade spam I would remove Martyrdom as a perk entirely and get rid of the single grenade endowed to each player. I doubt this will ever happen though seeing as the developers have basically moved on to the next game.

1 grenade per player is reasonable; 3x gets out of hand when multiple players do it. Infinity Ward isn't developing Call of Duty: World at War, Treyarch is.

Maybe count grenade kills for less XP? Depending on the mode they'll only be +1 instead of +5, or +5 instead of +10.

I don't know about anyone else, but I care about, in order of importance:
1. Killing (a lot) more than I get killed
2. Winning the match
...
X. XP

Grenade spamming would contribute heavily to 1 and 2, if I played that way. But I can only speak for myself.

I was referring to Infinity Ward developing COD6 or whatever they are calling it. It's pretty clear at this point neither console or pc players will be getting any more updates to the game, whether it's patches, power level balances or new maps. I agree that 1-2 grenades per person is the max you can do without things getting really stupid really fast.

I still think Martyrdom is an issue just in it gives everyone one more automatic nade drop no matter what they do. If you have space to move it's easy to run away from Martyrdom nades but in enclosed areas or if there are a ton of other grenades raining from the sky you can't dodge them.

i think its sad there already coming out with a new COD after what..a year or so with COD4..i probaly will never buy another COD game again...my clan went that route...

Yeah it's sad that they put the same name on work from two different developers when one of those developers puts out clearly superior games. Infinity Ward considers CoD4 to be CoD3, and I'm guessing the next game has no number after it because Infinity Ward will be developing the real Call of Duty 5.

Apparently I'm the only one here that uses the RPD.

RPD w/ Red Dot
Stopping Power
Dead Silence (I have to be sneaky quiet)
3x Grenades, I throw those bitches so much.

I think that's why the one coming out this year is "Call of Duty: World at War" rather than CoD5. I can't get too excited about another WWII game, so unless it's reviewed really high I am skipping WaW.

I heard rumors that CoD5 will be future warfare. I hope not. The modern aspect is what makes CoD4 great.

I've not heard anything at all, I think at this point it's all speculation. Knowing IW they'll see the boo boo that was made with the BF series and steer clear of the future.

M1014 Shotty
RPG x2 (I hate enemy helis and kill them asap)
Stopping Power
Extreme Condition

I just go balls to the walls crazy on the enemy, charging in, dodging left/right...I'm a crazy mofo w/ a shotty.

3x frag more like 3x i love you

YES I WENT THERE

Honestly, though? My favorite SC setup is AK-47, ACOG, Stopping Power, Steady Aim, Bandolier. I am just amazingly good with it for some reason.

For HC I like to go M16 w/ ACOG, MP5 w/ RDS or silencer, or M4 w/ RDS. Haven't really picked an ideal HC setup yet. For my main perk I generally pick either UAV Jammer or Sleight Of Hand, since I don't usually need extra damage in HC.

AK has become my "all around" weapon of choice as well. Every once in a while I'll use an M16 but typically only on levels where I'll be shooting at range more than close up.

I agree, BUT (at least in my mind) the players who tend to spam grenades I link to the type who are those who live off of the advancement (xp). I personally want my K😀 ratio high but don't have time to play it to get that great. All I really look after is being good enough to have fun, which I am. I play the ground war mode or whatever it's called and 90% of the time am in the top 3 of my team.

no thats not true, cod4 is getting a new playlist soon. its double xp this weekend, so maybe then

Question for people that posted here that are playing COD4; have you been playing it since its release date or did you purchase the game recently?

I bought the game on release day, played through the campaign a few times, beat it on Veteran including Mile High Club and then went on to play MP for about 2.5 months or so. I then quickly lost interest with the game. The maps were just way too small. Of course, I was a new console gamer just coming from playing BF2 on PC for about 2 years.

been playing since launch, and up to 134k kills, but it can get tedious after awhile.

maybe IW wanted to keep the intensity of the game by making smaller maps, similar to CounterStrike

you'll probably love Operation Flashpoint 2 when its released. the scale of it looks vast

as a little side note to 360 owners, this weekend is LIVE fire, double xp, the variety map pack is 400points and the limited edtion Prestige Gamer pic pack will be available again for free

Yeah, OF2 looks great. I played the heck out of the original one; played the entire campaign with all the addons several times and played a lot of online games. Very fun game with good realism.

I've been playing Battlefield: Bad Company since release. Decent campaign, but the online portion is a lot better than COD4.

Consoles are getting sorta new gametypes, bare bones TDM and multi bomb S&D but that was announced weeks ago. New maps and patches have not been announced nor do they seem to be a possibility in the near future.
