After Market Fan Screws/Mounts?

I recently bought some yate-loon 120mm and 140mm and, since this is my first type building, I did not realize that they do not come with screws or mounts. Is this standard? Where do I get the proper screws/mounts and what should I use in my Coolermaster 690 case? Can the screws/mounts be bought at a B&M store?

hello,

Yup, Yate Loon are almost always OEM fans, no box, no extras. I bought some extra silicone mounting pins last time so I have some extras to sell also have standard fan screws. See my For Sale/Trade listing linked below. Can send them FCM in an envelope so postage probably less than $1.00

Is there any brick and mortar place I can get silicone pins? I would like to complete this build over thanksgiving and thus ordering online would delay it.

Well, CompUSA or MicroCenter or Fry's or a local Mom & Pop. Avoid the Sunbeam " rubber screws", sort of light ivory ones - they be crapola. You'll probably find the Antec short pins at the big box stores for around $5.00 a set. May be hard to find the long pins (that some Yate Loons need) locally. Which exact models did you buy and where (some models are available either way) so I can find out what kind of corners they have.

If the local store has a repair dept. they should have a can full of screws that would be at least a temp. solution for any fan - maybe get some fan screws there for cheap. If I got them out in the mail tomorrow, you may have them by Saturday. I'm in central NY (finger lakes). You need to complete your member profile so we can tell where you are (roughly) - click on the "Profile" button near the top of this page.

There's gotta be at least a guy that works on pooters and posts his card on bulletin boards around town. Local bank, small grocery stores, etc. Just ask people that have been in the area a good while and aren't iPod people (IOW, aware of what's going on around them). He'd be sure to have some fan screws. If your case comes with one fan, you could use two of the screws from that in each of your new fans. good luck. I have no idea what corners the 140 has as none of the pix I've seen show them clearly. And the D12SL can be gotten both ways (though that just happened recently - 'til now they've all been closed corners and need the long pins). So you'll just have to wait 'til you have them in your hands to be sure.

Oh, and be sure you check out http://www.jab-tech.com for that sort of stuff too. My bud runs the place just out east of OKC a bit. Good selection of pins. Gonna place another order there a bit later today too. You could have gotten both sizes of fans in one place (three and up on the D12SL are only $3.00 each so SVC didn't beat by much even on sale - he has the D12SL in both open and closed corner styles now too)...

I found out that the D14SM-12 that jab-tech carries has the closed corners, so they need the long silicone pins. IDK if the 140 is available in open cornered too.

Thanks guys, I ordered some screws and I think I will check out Geeksquad at bestbuy tomorrow to see if they might have some (plus a few mom and pop stores).

As I said earlier I am building my first computer and everything is going fairly well so far. I have a question though, I have an ASUS P5k-e Wifi/ap and a Corsair 520hx power supply and a Coolermaster 690 case. I am installing many fans to keep the case cool (around 5 to 6 total). Is it a good idea to plug them all in to the motherboard since there are enough slots? Or should I plug some in the PSU? Complete specs and fan types are below.

Here are my specs:

Coolermaster 690 case
Q6600 with Coolermaster Hyper TX cooler
Asus P5k-e Wifi/ap
Samsung DVD Burner
Seagate 250gb HD
evga 8800gt
2 yate loon 140mm
1 yate loon 120mm
1 scythe 120mm
2 Coolermaster 120 fans
