After installing XP SP1, I can't use custom themes anymore.

I had been using the uxthemutil patch from tgtsoft.com (which replaces the uxtheme.dll file) to use custom themes instead of using the whole Style XP program. It was working just fine until I installed SP1. Now the taskbar and the windows style won't change - it just goes back to the Win2k style every time I try to use a custom theme. I tried replacing the file again, but no luck. Anybody else run into this yet? It's a good thing I tried SP1 out on my old machine first before putting it on my two newer rigs.

Yea, same thing for me. tgtsoft says they will have an SP1 compatible free uxtheme.dll patcher out soon. Right now only Style XP 1.01L will work with SP1.

To the best of my knowledge, MS never exposed the interfaces for creating custom themes, and any app that changes themes is essentially a hack.

Therefore, it's not surprising that it no longer works.

'Course, I could be wrong...

Ah, it's not just me then. That's good to hear. Thanks for the info.
