AFTER I eat a bunch of cookie dough...

LOL

i eat raw cookie dough (store bought and homemade) every time we make cookies. ive never gotten sick off it in 30 years of doing it.

Don't fall for it... It is mostly an old wive's tell to get kids to stop eating the delicious batter. Yes you can get it ... but I have never met a person who has ever gotten Salmonella infection from eating raw dough. Think about all the people who eat raw eggs...

Usually your own body's flora is enough to protect you from an infection. Unless you are immunocompromised, on antibiotics, or recently sick or ridiculously stressed. You should have nothing to worry about.

Salmonella would not be in the eggs, it would be on the shell. Not rinsing first and then mishandling the shells while breaking them is what could put it in the egg. Still, not much there in cookie dough to cause a problem unless you leave it sitting out at room tempurature for a time so the bacteria can grow and multiply.

Not quite true

However, I eat it all the time, never had a problem- never heard of anyone having a problem w/ raw eggs...
I wouldnt worry...

I used to eat raw cookie dough all the time and never had a problem.

I have got salmonella before, though, from a runny egg I had in Vietnam. That isn't fun.

i lived off of cookie dough. if i wasn't home when mom was making it she would save me a spoon full!

ive prob eaten more cookie dough then most peopel, ive never had any ill effects, this includes homemade with eggs and the stuff that comes in teh tube, i use to just buy that and eat it

Make sure you rinse the shells off your eggs very well. There's a pretty small chance you can get it from raw eggs themselves. Salmonella Typhimurium makes lots of capsules so it looks slimy if you see enough of them. Does anyone know anyone who's gotten a food infection from eating raw eggs?
