I was hoping you guys could play the guidance counselor for me since I really don't like mine and she is very unhelpful.

Alright, as you may know my grades took a dive last grading period which created quite a stir for me after realizing it. I'm very interested in literature, computer animation and art but don't have the grades to back it up. I've taken very basic classes as far as math and science goes which really takes me out of interest for colleges. I really enjoy learning and such but once again, my report card doesn't show it. I've been trying lately and I never realized how fvcking easy school is. Math is a cinch as is English and Social Studies. My only struggle is Chemistry which has yet to see above a 54%. I've tried my hardest in that class with a tutor, the teacher, friends and staying after school so me and my parents decide it best to simply drop the class if it's causing such an upset to me (which it is).

If you compare me to my fellow peer's, I don't measure up at all. They all take advanced math and science courses while I'm in the background taking the basics and barely passing at times. I'm by no means stupid and surpass these same students by far in English, Art and computers. I struggle in the technical since I find it so dull and without emotion. My point is that since I don't have high math and science grades, does that make me exempt from a lot of colleges? (Spare community) I have no support from my friends, only ridicule. Don't flame me or simple reply 'Have fun at [insert fast food restaraunt here]' because that's not helpful at all to me. What decent school do you think I have a shot at? I've been quite interested in Full Sail but I don't have the money for it.

Hmmm, I'd have to say, yes, that it will put a lot of colleges out of your range, sadly...Most schools look for good science students and things like that...

I would consider first applying to as many colleges as possible. If none of them accept you take a year off and take some part-time classes in a local community college, then apply the following year with those grades towards a degree you really want to take.

And if you're only failing grade is Chemistry, don't worry about it, you'll probably be only required to take an intro-course in College.
 
aply to places. you never know where you may get in. and if all else fails go to a 2 year school first. never give up on collage. it will make the rest of your life betetr. you could always become a teacher

The majority of colleges won't accept someone who doesn't have the requisite math background with some amount of competency.

The only classes I haven't taken in math are Trigonometry and Calculus since I don't think I'll ever use them. I have a very well understanding of algebra, geometry and such.

but seriously, apply to a bunch of different places, if you don't get in, you can always go to community college for a year or two and transfer... when you're transferring from another college, they usually care a lot less about your high school grades and such
 
well, go to study in a community college then transfer to a better college. but u have to maintain maybe a 3.8 gpa

My friend who wants to be a professional bowler is going to do that. I think it's a pretty good idea. My local college actually has better computer classes than that of the University of Pittsburgh. I think the hardest part of going to a community college is getting over the fact you're going to a community college.
 
Apply to colleges that have a good program in the field of study you're interested in. Dont just randomly apply to colleges. So are you good with computers as in programming, etc. ? To get into a good CS program, you also need to do well in math.

I hate programming. I love computer animation like Maya and making art in programs like Photoshop 7. Programming is technical which I despise.

like some people said, try applying... if you dont get in, then you can always go to community college, which tend to be cheaper with smaller classes

you think you don't use it but you probably will even though you'll never realize it. Too bad you didnt take those classes. I'm taking trig next year and ap calc senior year.
