After Call of Duty. All FPS seems SUCK!

I haven't played FPS games since original Half-life (Although I did play a bit of SoF)
Then, I heard about CoD, so I gave it try.
Man, the game rocked! It just felt right.
It was realistic and it, indeed, felt like it was more than a game(Until last year, I used to be a squad leader of Special Forces)

It brought me back the interest of FPS games so I tried other games such as Halo and Medal Of honor. The result is that I regret playing Call of Duty because I, now, can't enjoy other GAMES.

Anyway, I'm thinking that I may be missing something here. Is there any other games that are like CoD? Some said Medal of Honor is similiar, but MoH was just a game.

Well, I saw a video clip of 'Brother in Arms' and that one seems even better than Call of Duty. I hope it comes out soon.

Amen brother :D

COD is pretty much the only multiplayer game I play now. Being a huge WW2 fan, I'm drawn to these genre, but I didn't play Medal of Honor nearly this much. I'm actually starting to play MOH again since I've gotten the expansions, but find it hard to adjust after playing COD since November of last year.

For me, the gameplay and map layout just seems perfect. While it was in a few games before COD, the ability to aim down the sight really adds to the experience. I pretty much only play TeamDM or Search and Destroy for the strategy, and I also enjoy playing on the rifle only servers.

I've not seen much about Brothers in Arms, but the official expansion pack for COD comes out in a few months.

Possible AT COD Clan

Unfortunately, the craze for COD hasn't really taken off much on AT, as far as I can tell. Sysadmin tried to start a COD server, but I don't think it lasted 2 weeks b/c no one ever played on it. While I don't have a lot to time to invest, it'd be great to get a few of us together to play regularly.

I still don't get why people think CoD was/is sooo great. I was really disappointed in it and possibly so because I had already played all the MoH games for the PC, which was a marathon, compared to CoD?s 7-hour single player. CoD didn't really offer anything new except for the kill cam and I thought the AI was worse and the levels mainly heavily scripted rehashes of what MoH already did.

Oh well just my opinion :)

Anyway if you have UT?04 the Red Orchestra mod for that game is very CoD like. It?s pretty much multiplayer only though so not sure if you?d be interested in it.

Yeah, as much as I love COD, I still have yet to finish the single player campaign. While it was good, I agree with it being too scripted and it seems like every enemy had the magical bullet that killed me from 500 yards away.

Personally, I think MP is where it's at, but then alot complain about it being unbalanced. Granted, the MP does have it's faults, but I love it.

CoD wasn't realistic enough for me after so much CS. So I went to the opposite extreme, UT2004, and haven't looked back :). Hopefully HL2 will put this all to rest.... CS2.0..... /drools.

Haven't played COD, but I just finished Far Cry and Halo (in that order). Halo was too short and never really held my interest. Far Cry was pretty good and the graphics and sound were incredible. Nothing like laying prone in the tall grass and hearing some sucker approach from the side only to blast a head shot when he comes into sight. If anything Far Cry was a bit too long, I started reading the walkthrough outlines to see how much further I had to go until the end.

COD was a good game but it paled in comparison to MOHAA or RTCW.

(Until last year, I used to be a squad leader of Special Forces)
You might like Delta Force Black Hawk Down or Operation Flashpoint.

I only played the CoD demo but didn't buy it cause I was tired of the genre. Earlier I purchased Delta Force BHD.....and it just sat on my HD. Recently I fired it up and it does indeed look to be a good game. Some pretty realistic game settings, nice graphics (especially exploding things, like vehicles) and a save system that I think ought to be in all FPSs.....you get X (varies) amount of saves per mission. The manual says that some of the missions are actual historic missions. So, if you're into something that is like CoD you might want to give it a look.

BTW, the latest edition of PC gamer previews some of the late year and early 2005 games.....and the screens of many of them are just crap-yer-pants good.....including Brothers in Arms.

I have my doubts about Brothers in Arms. I just don't feel good about FPS games that aren't PC-exclusive in both development and release.

Are there even any videos of the PC version in play? I've only seen a few (the one with Randy and the military advisor guy giving a commentary is great), but they are all the X-box version.

Operation Flashpoint...that is probably the most realistic war game I've played. Some of the missions are extremely hard.

I still enjoy Enemy Territory. It gives a nice change from the shoot-anything-that-moves. I also enjoy the ability to change your class to help out your team in different ways. Also uses the Q3 engine so it has a familiar feel to it. Being free also helps :)

There is an even better game that lets you do all that plus a whole lot more. BF1942 and all expansions/mods. I don't see myself playing any other multiplayer until Battlefield 2 comes out next year.

FPS enjoyment is such a subjective and idiosyncratic issue, people will never agree on their favorite games.
I've enjoyed HL, CS, MOH, COD, Halo, RTCW, Far Cry.....they all have their good points and not so good points.

Call me crazy, I still spend most of my gaming time playing CS 1.5.

Looking forward to HL2 and D3(in that order):D

For me, the reason to buy a FPS shooter is for the Multiplayer experience. If the Single Player is good, that's great, but not worth $50+.

I play the single player to get used to the game, and then hop online. I forgot COD even had Single Player :p

I absolutely LOVE Battlefield:Vietnam. Only drawback is that there are no medics who can revive players. My favorite part of ET was being able to sustain a good offensive rush by hanging back as a medic and reviving people like mad when they got mowed. I miss being a medic. Othere than that, BF:Vietnam is the shiznit.

BEST GAME EVER:

UT2K4

REASON:

RED ORCHESTRA MOD

It's basically the best WW2 thing I have ever played (yes I played CoD, single player only though), I find RO incredibly fun. And it's free as long as you buy UT2k4 first!
For the last 2 weeks at least, I have only played RO (and a bit of Far Cry), but the "real" UT2k4 hasn't been touched at all for at least 3 weeks (only had broadband for 8 or so at most).

And, loads of new maps are being released all the time :)

COD is better than MOHAA and much much better than that POS RTCW.

Battlefield 1942 imo has the worst graphics of any game out there right now. even vietnam has crappy graphics. also, you can't even bring up iron sites in that game!

The graphics weren't the hottest, true, but the MP gameplay was awesome. :) Ok, it was UT in WWII, but whatever, I loved it.
