Did you get your power plugged back in?....j/k Maybe you didn't plug your fan back into the correct header. Some mobo's beep or won't start if the fan isn't plugged in.

Tell us more about your symptoms? What mobo? Is the fans turning. Any info can help.

fans are turining, it is an abit kt7, there are 2 fan power things, ive tried both, still no worky T_T, it seems like everything starts normal just no beep, the cdrom makes the little sound, this also seems similiar to the power supply problem i had a few days ago, but i replaced that and it was working fine until this T_T

Are you sure you didn't crack your core, or smear Arctic Silver on any of the bridges?

Take your video card out and put it back in, or if you have an older one try it and see.

I assume it was working before and the only thing you changed was putting on new Arctic Silver.

AMD or Intel? If it was AMD, was your processor unlocked? You might of undone the bridges with the Acetone. If it was Intel then nevermind.

I would also try reseating my memory. If none of this helps. Pull everything out of your motherboard but the cpu and hsf, memory, video card. Pull all the power plugs from cd's etc. Only have the above things in. If it powers up and beeps then its your power supply again or one of your peripherals. If it is still no beep(after making sure speaker is plugged in right), pull your memory out. If it was memory then it will beep. If still no beep then pull your video card out. If it beeps then its your video card. Still no beep, one last thing to do. Pull the processor out and examine it closely, see if you cracked the core (AMD only) and then reseat it if its ok. Put the fan back on and turn it on again. Still no beep then your processor, motherboard or powersupply is bad. You will have to swap test to find out for sure.

P.S. Anytime your pulling memory or processor make sure your power supply is unplugged. Because there is still power in the motherboard that can damage stuff.

i dont think i cracked the core, but some did get on one of the little metal pieces sticking up, but it didnt go near the l1 bridges where it was unlocked and it is an amd duron 600 wich usually runs @ 1000

double check everything on the cpu. there could be a small dab of silver you missed.

re checked the cpu, there was a dab on the L6 part but i cleaned it all off then reinstalled, the driver i was using to reattach the cpu hit the motherboard once but there is no sign of a crack or anything , still no beep T_T ialso tried unplugging everything, reseating the vid card and ram

Now you are going to need a known working cpu. If it will post with another CPU, you may have shorted out the CPU. Sadly, it sounds like you are down to either a bad cpu or mobo. :(

if the bridges were connected does that probably mean it shorted out that way ? is there another way ? and also, if it happens to be the board, it is still under warranty by abit but i dont got a receipt, would they take it?

OMG, it got a small crack on the side and little shavings came out, is it possible there was a deeper crack that just fully shaved off on the side? also is there no possibility at all that this cpu will ever work even if the main part isnt cracked? and how can i prevent this next time?

Yeah some poeple can loose large chunks and others little tiny pieces and the chip dies. I use a shim, to protect my "ham-handedness" from crushing my Athlon.

Try recleaning it with the alcohol or soapy water and a soft brush, dry very well and let sit. Reapply a dab of AS and reseat the vid, mem, and any jumpers close by. Clear cmos and install the cpu, fan and boot up.

As long as the rubber pads are on the cpu it should be protected from "rocking" the hs base which causes the chips. The fop 32 can be mounted easier if the box is flat, use a flat tipped screwdriver down through the fan blades and heatsink to compress the tension clip so that the hinged clip can slip over the tab.

For your problem it would be easiest to get another cpu to try out to see if that's your problem.

but on the current cpu, since it has rocked and chipped, does that chip mean automatically it is dead?
