After a Sneeze do you say bless you, blessshew, or gesundheit?

in hebrew you say "???????" which means "to your health" or something like that. it means be healthy. i always found that strange as a sneeze is a reflex and not any sign of something wrong...but whatever.

If it's someone I know well, I'll say, "GROSS!"

If it's someone else, bless you. and aside from having grown up with it, I have no idea why I say it.

This guy I used to work with would say ...

GER-SHNOF-EL

gershnoffel ... I say it still 🙂 ... and especially there's this one guy at work who's anti religion ... so it's beautiful 'cause he can't get pissed off!

So other people do say "blessshew" I wonder how it evolved into that from bless you?

laziness

that is how I heard it growing up. It sounded like "blesssshew" to my ears. I am not religious, nor was I raised religious, I just accepted it as a kid and it's been habit ever since.

Mostly "Bless you", but occasionally "God bless you".

Unless they reel off like3 or 4 in a row, then "stfu"

When someone I know gets overly dramatic and has to unload his sinuses like an explosion, I usually ask, "didja get any on ya?"

You seriously can't figure it out?

Think about it, no actually, say bless you out loud and sorta fast.

Get it now?

It's extremely interesting to me that so many of you claim to say only, "Bless you", which is a shortened corruption of "God Bless you", which many in my life have said.

But even the Catholic Irish side of my family favored the secular, German, "gesundheit."
