After a fresh install of Windows XP...

I'd guess System Suite Pro 6, Powerdesk Pro 6, Speedfan, Active Smart, Boinc client, Photoshop 5.0, spyware detection and removal programs, Avant Browser, ZoneAlarm, Download Accelerator, Power DVD, RecordNow DX, drivers...

I'm still on my original install of Windows XP from ~5 years ago. I tend to do maintenance and partition imaging, rather than reinstall at a whim.

Firefox, RealVNC, Winamp, PC Inspector File Recovery, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Widget engine, and then as I realize, I install Quicktime Alt and Real Alt, and Flash, and whatever else is needed on Firefox.

Nothing really. I just install apps as i need them. I have mostly everything already installed since i use a custom uXP cd (unattended XP).

It has mostly everything i need to start using the computer productively from the moment the desktop comes up.

Here's some of the programs i have slipstreamed into it:
XP SP2
Java VM
WMP10
Winrar
Directx 9.0c
K-lite mega codec pak
Foxit reader (PDF reader far superior to Acrobat)
Flash/shockwave player
Firefox
Google toolbar (IE)
Custom ad-blocking HOST file
IE-Spyad (IE restricted sites list)

I also have the newest versions of forceware and catalyst drivers, all critical updates to date installed.

I plan on adding more applications and drivers later on that will support alot more systems.

It took me about a week of reading and research to finally get it going correctly.
It was well worth it though.

Just pop the CD in and press a key on the keyboard to boot from the CD. It does not need any input and does not stop until you're on the desktop ready to roll.

I removed a few components completely from the install all together, mainly the windows security center 😀

The desktop, explorer, startmenu, IE are all customized to my preferences also. I love it. It saves a TON of time 🙂

Firefox, iTunes, DivX, QuickTime and RealPlayer Alternative, VLC, EAC, foobar2000, AVG Free, DAEMON Tools, AnyDVD, WinRAR.

copernic
zonealarm
synergy
7zip
daemon tools
klite codec pack
atnotes
unlocker
gaim
firefox+extensions
ccleaner
netpersec
spybot
adaware

Before anything I reboot with Acronis True Image to make an image. I make another one after I've loaded up everything and activated XP.

Most of my key apps on my work PC are development related: Visual Studio 6 and 2005, InstallShield, Flash MX, PhotoShop, WinZip & SFX, . . .

On my music server the first things are FLAC libraries, LAME, Exact Audio Copy, Foobar2000.

The first thing I loaded on my gaming system was Oblivion, then Riddick (hadn't played it yet).

I keep a drive image of a clean XP install with all of my drivers, and all common apps that I use. That way, I can boot from the Norton Ghost CD, and 6 minutes later have a fully functional windows machine ready to go.

What is explorer2?

The best thing ever. Do a search for Xplorer2 on google.

It's an alternative to windows explorer. I switched with windows explorer would hang for several minutes when browsing around my stuff (drives not all that fragmented or anything).

It's pretty awesome, has dual pane, does tabbed browsing, is faster, and I've never had a single issue with it. It is a wonderful thing.

after an install of windows (after all the drivers), i immediatly install (with the network cable unplugged) my ZoneAlarm Security Suite, then plug back the network and update windows. ( i always install slipstreamed and up-to date windows so this is neccessary often). then install CpuIdle, SpeedFan, FreeRAM XP, Opera, iTunes for my ipod, WMP10, K-Lite Codec pack, office, nero, TweakUi and lastly, System Mechanic 5.5 Pro.
