I can't say I'm surprised. The game just doesn't sound exciting. It probably would have made more sense as a PSN title.

When I heard you couldn't shoot the animals with a gun, I lost interest. Geez, even those lame Cabela games let me shoot the animals with a gun!

I think people are critiquing it in the wrong way. It isn't so much a game as it is just a way to virtually explore Africa, as if you were a photographer.

I won't be getting it, although I did like Pokemon Snap back in the day. Just not into that thing.

However, I respect 1up's review a lot more. They gave it a B+, and seemed to review it based on what the 'game' is, and not on what it is not. Most critics are going to have trouble recommending a game in which there is literally no point, objective, or story, with little options unlike an open world game.

IGN giving it such a low score is reason enough. It seems as if the game is good for what it is, but going into it with the wrong opinion really screws things up.

Fun... fun is the word I think you're looking for. ;)

I mean ultimately that's what we're looking for here, right? I suppose if someone released a word processor for the PS3 we'd have to use some other criteria to score it, but I believe the goal of Afrika is to entertain, like any other game. It doesn't sound like it does a good job at that.
