African-American Names: Are they made up?

are these african names, or are they simply just made up?

Im originally from South Africa, and i've never heard any of those names before, some I know are Dumisani, Sipho, Precious, Kelly

some are wierd, others are perfectly normal names

Well, I don't want to presume. I guess the next question then, is:

Why make up names? There is obviously some aesthetic that these names are being made under. I'm trying to figure it out.
