Don't know if this is a report, if it is. Please Lock.. Thanks.

KABUL: The Taliban claimed on Wednesday that Afghans were destroying food supplies airdropped by American planes.

Abdul Hanan Himat, a spokesman for the Taliban information ministry, said people in the eastern provinces of Paktia and Khost were destroying the food rather than eating it because "the Americans are killing us and attacking us, and we don't need this food."

American planes have dropped thousands of food packets over Afghanistan in what the government says is an attempt to show that US-led military attacks do not target civilians. Military officials say they have a stockpile of 2 million packets to distribute.

The yellow plastic packets contain red beans, rice, fruit bars, peanut butter and strawberry jam, providing at least 2,200 calories, the military has said.

Each is about the size and weight of a hardcover book, and they are designed to flutter to the ground rather than drop straight down to minimize the possibility they could injure someone.

sure they are. they have little to nothing to eat. When you're hungry enough you don't give a crap where the food comes from. That is just propaganda

Next the Taliban will say we are using the food to bait civilians into coming out into the open. Then, we kill them. They come up with some pretty bizarre stuff.

That's lovely that they are so concerned with looking tough, that they would brag to the world about starving their people 'cuz they can'.

Yeah, I believe the Taliban.

The people are eating the food and burning the empty packets.

The Taliban also claims the U.S. has not materially damaged their air defense system, when we pretty much rule the skies over Afghanistan. Why on earth anyone would listen to a single word these zealots have to say is beyond me.

I don't mind turning the afghanistan into the 51th states, they dont deserve to to rule themselve, with the way they practices thing and how they are so against us, I live in fear of another taliban rising again to come back to haunt us. All of them have been brainwashed from birth and so they all act the same way. Heck, their society is so mess up, that they don't know from right to wrong or evil to good.
my question is, can't we all get along?

Those packets of food supposedly cost $3.95 each (according to Today show yesterday)...man, you'd think the people would try and collect them...that's almost like winning the lottery over there for the commoners.

Actually, they're just saying that our planes fly too high for what's left of their crude defense system (Worms-Style Camel lauchers?)
Then again, I fail to see how that doesn't mean the US has dominated their skies....they are such fools.

Yeah, I heard it's like a couple weeks salary for them and that they are killing each other for them too along with getting blown up by land mines.

The Taliban are full of it.

In less than 24 hours after the WTC attack, the Taliban plead with us not to attack Afghanistan. Like we really were certain they had anything to do with Bin Laden at that particular time.

Odd, I heard the exact opposite on MSNBC last night. That the Taliban were getting to them first and destroying them..

One thing we know about those guys is that they can't write decent propaganda to save their lives. Where do they get this stuff??

That's ridiculous, the Afghans are not burning US food packets! People who extremely hungry, as the Afghans are, don't burn perfectly good food packets for political reasons. They take any food resource that is available to them.

It takes a very special kind of will power and commitment to reject food if you're starving. I don't think the average afghan has that commitment to the taliban!

at the same time most all of us are saddened and angry towards the afghans for what happened on the 11th, i don't think the destruction of life is a funny thing at all. i'm not saying that war is unneccesary or that we shouldn't be killing them, but it shouldn't be considered funny.

i heard they originally dropped stuff like pasta and sauce etc etc.. stuff these afgans dont know how to eat..

if you are going to save them, drop stuff they know about not unknown stuff that they would rather burn than eat.

I can see where these rumors are coming from.. teh fact.. infact the US did acknowledge that they dropped quite a few 100 packets over mine fields.
