Why is it the winning team never wins. The other team "gives it away", "chokes", or "melts down"?

Steeler Prayer

Our father, who is Art Rooney in Heaven,

Football be thy game.

Thy kingdom come, 4 Super Bowls won,

On Earth as it is at Heinz Field.

Give us this day our playoff victory,

And forgive us of our penalties,

As we defeat those who play against us.

Lead us to a playoff victory,

and deliver us to Detroit.

Amen

Oh make no mistake... the Steelers D DESTROYED Jake Plummer and the rest of that offense.

And you're right, it isn't a meltdown. Plummer just isn't a QB capable of winning anything in the NFL.

He won the AFC West ;)

Nobody can win being -4 in turnovers. Ask Tom Brady.

Kudos to Pittsburgh. Superbowl favorites by 7.5 points.

Congrats to the Steelers. They have been PHENOMENAL this post season. I really didn't think they would knock off the Broncos with that said, say hello to the Superbowl XL champs, the Pitt. Steelers.

Kinda throws that "12th Man" horsesh|t out the window, doesn't it?

100 yards, is 100 yards. Doesn't fvcking matter where it's played.

Yes, the actual physical setting doesnt change........good observation.

But with a statement like that its clear that your discrediting psychological emotions and the impact they have on a game.

Real simple psychology lesson:
When the task at hand is hard, you have a better chance of winning if your calm and collective/mellowed down before the game.
On the other hand, if its an easy task, you need to be fired up and ready to go in order to have a better chance of winning.

So taking the psychology above, in the Colts game, being the "better" team, they were hyped and ready to go since they were at home, so in theory that would make it harder for Pitts to win. But Pitts did win, so it makes it that much more of an awe factor.

Now, thats just one situation and it doesnt fit 100%, but its just a rough example of why the setting of the game does actually impact the game.

Not to mention the difficulty a visiting team has in calling/hearing audibles on the line of scrimmage.

But im sure you already took those things into account in your well thought-out and highly cultivated sentence rambling.

Stealers shouldn't even be in the Super Bowl, them being super says bad guys can finish first. It seems like they are being rewarded for playing dirty in the Bengals game. Hope Seattle kicks their ass in the super bowl.

Yes, all the sh!ty calls that have gone against them the last couple weeks have been quite the reward

I also caution my fellow Steeler fans to be careful with the remarks about how either they or the Broncos would dominate the NFC champ. Sounds too much like the Colts v. Jets of many years back for my taste. I just hope the Steelers are just as hungry come SuperSunday as they have been, and don't let being the favorites cause them to pooch another golden opportunity.

AFC Champs > AFC North Champs. Get over it.
