AES Encryption

I've got the D-Link DI-624 (revision c). I'll soon upgrade to firmware 2.5 (the download is going at BYTES/sec!.... slow FTP)

I've set up 128-bit WEP encryption... but I want this network to be relatively unhackable. It's just a college campus.... but that's just it... it's a college campus and you never know when some inquisitive techie will want to try to compromise my network.

I'm thinking of upgrading to WPA-PSK soon with a nice, long passcode, but I'd much rather just make the jump to AES and/or 802.1x

Anyway... I want to do AES and the internet seems to be highly devoid of any kind of decent guide...

Welcome to the Network Forum.

Windows Zero Configuration (WZC) has many entries; some are for regular use some are for IAS or RADIUS server.

With a given Wireless Hardware it is not your decision what you can upgrade to.
Whatever the combination of your Router and Wireless Card can do is it.

If you are Not sure what is available use for the switch off WZAC and for the initial configuration the D-Link Utility. When done with the configuration you can turn back to WZC.

May be this can Help.

For the router side of things look at the Linksys WRT54G, Buffalotech and some DLink models. I have a Linksys WRT54G that I use with AES encryption and it works pretty well. Only caveat is that full download speeds are about 3x slower then with wired. I'm not sure if this is the router's fault or because of low end laptops.'

And for my 700Mhz P3 laptops I have Intel 2200BG cards which support AES. I believe the new 2915ABG card supports AES also.
