Aeroflow 2

As do I, it will be quieter (by a little bit) and should cool well. Im not sure if it will be as good though without the TMD fan to remove the dead spot.

Looks cool. I wonder why they switched back from the TMD fan. Didn't that have a MTBF, or life expentancy of 80K hours? This new one is 50K.

Has anyone lapped their original Aeroflow core down level with the aluminum body?

Looks to me like the copper core and aluminum body making full contact with the CPU heatspreader would help conduct away more heat.

I dont know... the success behind the orginal aeroflow depended on the TMD fan which was able to send air right down into the middle of the heatsink due to the lack of the dead spot which normal fans have. Im not sure how the efficiency is affected now that theyve switched from the TMD.

The fan switch could be in part due to problems they had with the TMD fans not working properly. YS blamed the problem on Vantec, saying the screws attaching the fan to the HS were too tight or something, and as a result, a short could be caused inside the fan.

This happened to me, actually... had a tough time trying to figure out why my Aeroflow would work in my hand, but not on my CPU. Apparently sitting on the CPU grounded the fan and caused it not to spin up. A trip back to the shop and a new Aeroflow fixed the problem, but I've been a little worried ever since.

Hopefully the new aeroflow will be a good performer. My original aeroflow is still working great, alot better than the thermaltake volcano 6cu it replaced. Unfortunately the TMD fan seems to be pretty loud, maybe the new one will address that as well.

Another mostly negative review at overclockers.com. Note the one positive review did not compare the new version to the old.

I don't own an aeroflow, but blowing air on that solid chunk of aluminium (the middle of the HS) isn't going to help cooling much. It's the air blowing over the fins that make the difference. In reality most of the air comes off the edges of the blades anyway.
