KBB always goes off of the price that people want for the vehicle. For example, it lists the average price listed in the newspaper. KBB doesn't actually find out what people actualy paid for that vehicle (after negotiations downward). Thus KBB often over-estimates the value. Try NADAguides instead.

I assume that is the 4.7 v8. It is not necessarily a "bad" engine, but the 4.0 inline 6 is a very good engine. For reliability's sake, maintenance costs, etc - the 4.0 is hard to beat. The same engine has been in use for 10+ years with only minor changes. Not the fastest thing out there, but solid. I know it sounds stupid, but I was shopping for an 00-02 jeep with the 4.0, and I saw a number of V8s that were cheaper than their 6 cyl counterparts.
