I'm looking to build a new system and I'm thinking of doing RAID 0,1 - I've never done this and was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on H/D's, Mobos and Ram etc?

If my budget will allow it I want to have 4 identical 10,000 rpm drives.

It's going to be a P4 3.2 or 3.4 800mhz FSB system

That's going to be expensive, and I don't think it's worth it personally. I'd suggest going with just RAID 1 (mirror). Welcome to the forums. Peace.

read this http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=2101 . the improvement you get using raid 0 is very small. you are beter off just buying 2 10,000rpm hd's and use raid 1 if you are concerned about loosing your data.

So I'm leaning towards two raptors in Raid 1 and spend the extra cash on Ram or the latest greatest gfx card.
