get some better shelving, the stuff you have nailed to the walls is cheap, go to target and get some shelves that match your furniture.

IDEA #1 for your walls, if you want an Asian look go and buy some bamboo sheeting (you know like the mats you can unroll that you bring to the beach) or what you roll Sushi on.

Measure the wall behind your bead or another wall you want to be a focal point. Cover the entire wall with the bamboo sheeting by getting it tight and using nails to hold it in place. Get some asian prints etc and place them on the new wall, get some new bookshelves and place those on the same wall Get some plant life in their, maybe a bambo tree, or one of those little bamboo plants. Stagger the shelves by differentiating the height and distance, put any asian trinkets on the shelves.

Those shelves are GORGEOUS, but so expensive. 🙁 Love the bamboo idea, that would be quite a project...

Not really measure the wall you want to cover top to bottom and width. each mat is 36x72, if they are to expensive, go to an asian market or something and just get enough bamboo sheeting to cover the wall. Get some nails, or maybe even hot glue and attach it to the wall

Plants!! And color! The room looks dead, it needs to live again. My buddy painted his whole room red, but I don't think you need to do anything that drastic.

We'll start with the bed. Needs a bedskirt, new sheets/comforter, maybe some of those small pillows? Maybe in a dark red/maroon color. Purple might work too.

That's a very interesting chair, backless chairs are always cool. How about a rug? The carpet is so . . . grey.

I'd throw some paintings or pictures on the wall with the mirror. Or how about some chinese wall scrolls? Maybe not those because they're expensive but you get the idea.

Turntables need to go, looks out of place. Some plants in the corner would be nice. And move the birds over while you're at it. Put a bookcase where the birdcage used to be for your books and stuffed animals. Nemo looks so sad. I agree that they don't really fit if you're trying to give your room a theme but it's a shame to lock them up in the closet, besides you're a girl so it's ok.

The glare from halogen doesn't bother you when watching TV? Maybe move the halogen behind the TV and get some different lights for the bed side of the room. Or get a pair of matching nightstands and put some lamps on em (and pictures too, the room looks impersonal).

Sculptures should come off that top shelf, they're so high. Try to find something eye level to place them on so people actually notice them. Put plants on the shelves instead. And if you're going asian how about some vases?

And yeah I agree, you need some beads or something in the hallway to the bathroom.

Good luck on the bathroom, I have no ideas (or motivation) to decorate a bathroom. Just keep it clean I guess.

Unfortunately, the landlord don't allow us to paint anything, so I can't do anything about the ugly white walls.
What if you ask him/her if you can paint them if you agree to repaint them white when you move out?
