Advice request; will this AMD Antec P180 system work?

Hey all, I've just put together the following for my new system and would like some general input, mostly to assure it's all compatible with one another.

Case:
Antec P180

Mobo:
Asus A8N-SLI Premium

CPU:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+

RAM:
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM

PSU:
Antec TPII 480

HD:
Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10,000RPM

Video:
ATI x800 XL (from my previous machine)

Is the PSU enough for this system? I was considering 550 TPII (even though it is out of stock ATM @ NewEgg) but decided not. I may upgrade my video to nVidia 7800GT if I have cash and feel like it. It feels odd to use ATI under SLI motherboard, but ah well.

Any recommendations/advice? What are good fans & heatsink for this setup in the Antec P180? The Scythe Ninja looks quite alluring. Optimally looking for a balance of quiet and coolness (hence the P180). I may decide to go with stock though.

Much thanks. ;-)

For the P180 case, since I'm not an AMD user, the only thing I can recommend is grabbing one of the newer NeoHE power supplys from Antec. They should be sparsly available now as I've seen a few builds on here that have one.. Just check the antec site, they're right smack on the front of the page..

That psu should be fine since you're not running SLi or multiple hard drives, plus that video card doesn't have any external power requirements. Save your money.

Nice rig! Welcome to AT Zech 🙂 PSU is plenty. Ninja/xp120/si120 are all excellent choices for quiet performance. If you really want quiet, trade out the stock Tricools with Nexus.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

At NewEgg, Scythe Ninja is reported to work with Athlon 64FX (socket 754) and XP-120 with Athlon64 FX 3200+ (socket 939/940).

Since I plan to get Athlon 64 x2 socket 939, my choices are probably then between XP-120/SI120, which both look great.

Is it generally good practice, in consideration of a better performing/cooler PC, to replace a high-end (e.g. Athlon 64) CPUs stock heatsink with a 3rd party one?

I don't really plan to overclock my CPU.

I'll take a gander at Nexus fans, thanks for the tip JBDan.

If ur a HUGE, extreme gamer, get a 3rd party HSF. If ur not, just go with the X2's HSF. It already has heatpipes, but it's made of Aluminum.

NeoHE Looks like Clubmac, Macmall, PCmall, and a few others but Techonweb does it again! $101! Get it from techonweb...

If your not a big overclocker, I would still overclock at 4400+ to 4800+ speeds. Save you alot of money, and also isn't hard at all... 200mhz? Looks nice though 🙂
