I am getting a Asus A7N8X with a T-Bred 1800OEM. I plan to get Cooler Master HCC 002

What do you guys suggest? Will it suffice? This is also the first time that I am building a AMD rig. My current PC is PII350 which is socket based and was very easy to install, the HSF was a clip-on and I had no problems. But i am a lil worried about installing the HSF on the Athlon with the thermal grease and all that stuff. Any guides or suggestions on the process will be greatly appreciated.

Dont worry about the hsf, as long as your carefull. Shims are also there...

My athlon was the first comp I ever made, and I stuck a big alpha 8045 on the tiny core.

Needless to say, it works perfectly, and I'm only a 14 year old.

same here, only that i'm 15 and i installed a volcano 7+ on my athlon xp
 
The fan on that heatsink is a bit loud but that heatsink will be fine, unless you plan to overclock. In India that may be all you can get though. I'd suggest something that uses a 80mm fan, if possible.

That large clip does make for a very easy install.

First have a thin-even layer of thermal compound on the raised cpu portion. Follow these instructions for best results. Then attach the rear clip on the mobo catches and gently lower the heatsink evenly on the cpu, NOT at an angle. If you lower the heatsink at an angle and not evenly on the raised cpu, that could chip the core. This is why many use a shim.

Once the heatsink is even on the cpu, guide the larger front clip over the middle mobo catch. Some pressure will be needed. When attaching the front clip you may have to keep one finger on the rear clip so it doesn't come unattached. It is easier than it sounds. 😉
 
another piece of advice, dont use a shim 😉
more often than not people kill their cpus with shims slipping/not causing full contact between heatsink and cpu
 
Thanx ppl. Would you recommend a diff. HSF? My bro in London is getting me the parts so I could ask him to get some other heatsink. I plan to get the Epox 8RDA+ or the A7N8X, Will decide after reading Evan's review I might just overclock a bit since i heard that the Epox overclocks really well but I don't have air conditioning and it gets pretty warm during the summer, so please let me have your views. What's a shim?
