Hey guys,
I've got an old Celeron 300a system that I've been wanting to use as a file and gameserver from my dorm room. Its been sitting idle because of another error I'm still trying to understand (if you know about the Celeron and the Abit BH6, take a look in the motherboard forums), but I'd like to revive it and give it a purpose. Anyway, I've been looking around at inexpensive options that I can OC to a decent number. I've really been looking at a P3-500 or 550, that I can OC up pretty high (hopefully on the same mobo [Abit BH6]). I'm not looking to spend a lot of money, hopefully around $150 to 200. Would the P3 be a good idea, or should I look elsewhere, i.e. Duron/CeleronII/Tbird/Athlon(std)? Its main purpose will be game and fileserving over the school network (OC3 on 100Mips wall connection), with traffic expected to be fairly light. I've got 2 64mb PC100 sticks (one with Siemens chips, one with S-Tech chips) and a 128mb PC100 stick from Crucial Technology. Any input/suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. And please, don't just tell me to go get a 1.1GHz Tbird... be constructive.
Thanks,
Aaron
