I ordered a lot of pc components from newegg and shipped with fedex, i was at work around 9 AM and the tracking stated estimated delivery was the day after.

However to my suprise it was delivered a day earlier, yes i'm pretty happy about it, but i was not home, and the fedex guy left it on my door, i checked my tracking it said was signed by me.

Bad thinngs happend, it was heavily raining around 10AM while i was teaching. it was delivered (according ot the tracking around 9.30AM)

When i got back home, i was suprise to see a big box on my front door and it's all wet, i mean really wet, wheni open it, my video card (oem) and motherboard was soaked. i called fedex they said if it's not insured there is nothing they can do, but i was not home to receive the package or sign for it, shouldnt they come back and redeliver instead of leaving it on my door ? this is the first time i have this bad experience with fedex :(

i wonder if newegg will take it back and exchange for a new ones.

IUsually when the Fed-ex man delivers something to me in "Wet" conditions he carefully puts the package in a plastic bag. I would think Fed-Ex would be at fault here.

It must be insured for at least the minimum, right?

If you have a signature release on file (which you likely did if FedEx left the package at your door) then this is exactly the type of situation where they're covering their ass by having you sign that release.

I wonder what the legal implimentations are of forging someone elses signature??

Techinically it's fraud, therefore a federal offence??

Sorry I'm a few k miles away, so not sure of the judicial procedures for this

call and bitch to fedex, then call newegg

Just because you don't have insurance shouldn't mean that they can mishandle your package. See what newegg will do, and if they say it's out of their hands, take fedex to small claims. Or dispute the charge on your credit card.

I imagine this is true.

I think it was FedEx that dropped the ball this time. They can't leave stuff in the rain and then claim they're not responsible.

yeah, i did not sign anything or even release form, this is first delivery attemt, i think when they drop it off it has not rain yet, rain started around 10:15 and theyd rop off the package (according to the tracking) around 9.40

and the tracking said it's Signed by me, heck i was still at work until 5PM, and my wife is at work too. I call them and they said i did received the package and it's not insured, so they wont be held reliable for it

man, the fedex people near your area sound like total dickweeds. Definitely call them back and bitch like crazy to them.

If a signature is required, and no one is there to sign for it, then they have to redeliver and cannot leave a package there. Make sure when you call them back, that you tell them you were at work, no one was at home and it was impossible for anyone to sign for it unless they were committing fraud.

Sorry to be blunt, but grow a goddamn pair!
Call them back and BITCH LIKE MAD- remind them that forging a signature is a federal offence (or whatever), request a copy of the "signed" form, and if that fails, speak to a supervisor and threaten to take them to court for gross negligence. That'll get them to sit up and take notice.

agreed. grow a pair.

Newegg didn't do anything wrong so why should they have to pay for the loss?

Seriously, I'm sure you couldn't care less who loses out as long as you get your parts, but this is freakin FedEx's fault. Don't let them push you around like that. You're lucky that newegg is nice enough to give you a replacement, but again, this is FedEx's fault.

Damn straight - why let them get away with it? Become the customer from hell.

I could understand the box and perhaps the instruction sheets getting wet, but every component I've ever had has been sealed in a plastic container or bag. Did the components themselves actually get wet?
