Advice on upgrading system.

Current system is a AMD 2400+ on an epox 8kha+ mobo w/1GB Crucial pc2100 RAM and a ti4600 vid card.

Looking to possibly upgrade to something better. Would just upgrading the video card be worth it or should I get a new mobo/cpu/ram?
Looking to spend about $300 or so if I go the cpu/mobo/ram route. If I get that then I'll have to use my current video card for a bit before upgrading it.
I'd like the system to be able to handle the newest games coming out but I'm not a die hard gamer.

ALso, I'd like to hear AMD and intel choices.
