Advice on upgrades

I'm looking for advice on upgrading my current system. The cpu I want is the Q9550 when its out in Jan.08. My current board will support it I'm told. Would I be better off to go with a P35 or X38 board instead? I'm running 2 video cards in Sli at the moment but I'm considering switching to just one good card. The DDR3 memory prices are too pricey right now so I'd like to stay with my DDR2. Please feel free to give me you suggestions or thoughts on these upgrades thanks.

I'd go with a strong single card Nvidia board if you can sell your current 2 for a good price and milk that E6850 for all its worth then upgrade to Nehalem in a years time..............

I'm waiting on the X48 chipset myself and will purchase if it comes out in the Jan-March time frame.....if not I will get the IX38 QuadGT from Abit or comparable board. Doesn't make sense to purchase a cheap Abit IP-35E motherboard now unless you really need it now......better to wait until Penryn comes out then buy the motherboard. The IX38 QuadGT motherboard has Penryn support out of the box but for the other motherboards you will be waiting on bios updates....
